Pros:The property grounds were impeccable. So much to doThe beach at Barcelo Beach area was perfect for relaxing and swimming ( no rock or coral there). The pool was always clean without the smell of harsh chemicals. Kayaking, beach tricycles were off limits due to the wind. Nightly shows were very entertaining. Tokyo Dinner and Pizza at the tratorria were delicious. (Book your dinners early). The only con was that there were no adjoining rooms in the ocean front rooms, so if your traveling with smaller children stay in the garden rooms.

Had a bit of a hiccup upon arrival. We (2 parties of 4) initially booked a stay at the Maya Beach resort but upon arrival were told we had been relocated to Maya Colonial. Other than that no issues. The room was clean and serviced daily. The food options were great. The theater shows were entertaining and the pools were relaxing. We also had access to the private beach and did swim in it one day but not much fun to swim in it with the seaweed situation. The hotel did do their best to have it clean but mother nature still had the final say. They also had entertainent by the pools which was a lot of fun. The highlight was the service we recieved by the pool from Antonia Mex. She was extremely attentive, engaging, friendly, and very professional. We made sure to look for her every day we hung out by the pool. We even told her capitan Isaias about the great service we recieved from her. Antonia's service makes us want to return to the Barcelo for a third time..
