The location was key for us so we were happy about that. Reception area is great with toys for the kids while you check in and out. The rooms are ok, very old furniture and amenities. The all hotel needs a renovation to keep charging those prices.

Don't book it
This is not a 4* hotel, it is a budget hotel. It wasn't clean, it smelled, the decor was seriously out of date, staff unhelpful. I've stayed in better 2* places.

We stayed longer than expected
We turned up to Marseille very late in the evening due to car trouble and didn’t have many options for accommodation. The staff were very accommodating and made our stay comfortable considering the current situation with COVID. Nice pool and clean rooms. Good enough that we booked a further 2 nights.

10/10 Exceptional

The children enjoyed the swimming pool, table football and the tennis court. The restaurant was good - the young male waiter was fantastic, he never stopped moving around helping people! Parking was easy and had really good access to the national park between Casis and Marseille.

Hotel was amazing and very conventional
Hotel was amazing with very conventional bedroom and breakfast. Nothing too fancy and it is a bit off Marseille's city center (maybe 20 min drive) but since we had a car it was totally fine and great to commute to other places during our stay. It was very clean and very much well kept. Breakfast service was slightly a nuisance having to constantly ask for cutlery, plates, mugs, etc. but other than that, staff always attended to our request (with a slightly forced French smile).

Stay away!
This hotel was disgusting. Smelled horrid and the service waste just miserable. The rooms had a thick layer of stucco on the inside of the walls and smelled like moist swim towels.

Solid 2 star
The only reason it's not rated a 1 star is because of Eduard who went above and beyond to accommodate and make our stay enjoyable. He is personable and friendly, and suffered my poorly spoken French. We arrived late due to the wild fires blocking the trains. It was almost 3 am, and we were exhausted and made our room concerns known, Eduard did what he could during a busy tourist season. The rooms are of adequate size actually a bit roomier than most European hotels. The showers are hot with good pressure. The negatives: 1. Air Conditioning is barely functional. 2. Carpets are stained and worn, cigarette burns in them (that dates how old the carpet is) 3. Sofa bed torn and uncomfortable. 4. The majority of the staff is aloof and impersonal, they are more interested in chatting up their friends and hanging out than actually doing anything, less the maids, they worked hard, but were making insults about us when I asked for a replacement towel as we had not showered in our original room, that had non-existent air conditioning. Yes I understand more French than they assumed. 5. Our hosts in Marseille were invited to the hotel bar to have a drink with us. The bartender completely ignored our drink order twice, and took the order for the pretty girls from the pool. After 30 minutes my friends (whom recommended the hotel were enraged) and I told him to forget our order, and it was met with a smirk. 6. there are NO SAFES IN THE ROOMS. 7. The breakfast is edible.

Just the ticket
tgis was an excellent hotel for our stopover after a 400+ mile journey from Italy to Spanish border.the 24 hour reception, secure carpark and resonable proximity to motorways for our next leg of our journey were reasons for our choice. The hotel was very clean and staff helpfull and friendly. We would stop here again, certainly as part of a longer journey.

As above, Staff welcoming & helpful, bar/restuarant staff v.good, particuarly 'Seylvan' (hope that's correct spelling). Food & drink not more expensive than nearby restuarants & at least one v. good chef. Try he onglent of beef!. Handy for nearby east side of Marselles, Cassis etc. traffic a bit challenging in rush hours for a Brit in a hire car! Overall very happy.

6/10 Good

Below average
Air -conditioner did not work thus room became extremely hot. Little or nothing was done to resolve the problem.Kid's bed frame was broken. Frigobar did not work. Have been in several other Novotel's but this was below my expectation. Hotel is advertised as being in Marseille but in reality it is far away in a neighboring town known as La Valentine. Without a car and with kids this can be a nightmare as public transport is almost inexistent. Nearest train station was La Penne Sur Heauvanne and it took ages to get to. Only great thing was the swimming pool and the restaurant. Restaurant service was fantastic with great meals.
