Perfectly peaceful riad

Loved our stay here. Staff were incredible and the hotel was spotless. Super peaceful while only 5 minutes walk to the centre of the souks. This riad was recommended to us and we would absolutely recommend it to others.
4-night trip

2/10 Poor

What the website advertised and what the hotel offered were two VERY different scenarios. We arrived at the hotel and waited 25 minutes to be checked in, the employee just disappeared. When making arrangements to be picked up at the airport, they forgot to mention the taxi drops you off and it’s a 20 minute walk to the front door. They advertised breakfast from 4AM to 11AM, it was from 8-10 so we missed it most days due to excursions. The hotel was totally understaffed. I NEVER expect people to speak English but it was advertised on the website…..not really. The employees were nice but what was advertised on the website was just not there. Our bathroom literally smelled like raw sewage, we had to close the door, the room also smelled, it wasn’t fixed. The AC didn’t work, the room was dark, no chairs, we used our suitcases as bedside tables. No toiletries or soap, there was harsh shampoo and bubble bath but no tub! Had we not prepaid, we would have left. We paid close to $500/night, just a rip-off. To add insult to injury, in a country that you CANNOT DRINK THE TAP WATER, our “luxury” hotel CHARGED US FOR BOTTLES OF WATER but didn’t tell us that until we were checking out! We felt lied to and cheated about the quality of the hotel and what was to be offered. The next reservation I make on Expedia, I will do much more research and not take things at face value. Everything else about Marrakech was simply amazing, we will be back!
