Landlord was welcoming and efficient.
Food was great but as almost everywhere these days was pricey. Large Yorkshire breakfast was great value.

Oct 23, 2026Our 2 nights stay at the Black Swan was mostly good. Evening meal was very good on the first night. The bar was busy and had a nice atmosphere plus friendly locals. The room was comfortable, bathroom okay apart from the door which has noisy latch which can wake you up if you are a light sleeper. Some noise from machinery which kept cutting in and heard in the bedroom. Breakfast was okay but a little sparse for a cooked breakfast.

Variety of walks from the doorstep including into nearby Masham.

Only one thing that I would change is the shower ‘curtain’. It was very clean but I still don’t like them especially when they blow against you.

Very nice crisp white bedding & soft, white towels.
Breakfast was good & we had a lovely evening meal on one of the nights.
The staff were friendly.
Certain parts of the hotel would benefit with a freshen up but I guess that's down to finances and we still had a lovely time.
Slightly confused by the breakfast times as they were different to the website which stated Saturday & Sunday breakfast was until 10.00am when it was actually 9.30am.
This was our second visit, though it's quite a few years since our last stay, and we would return in the future.

Sep 6, 2026I booked a twin room which was clean and a good size. The mattress on my bed was very uncomfortable so I swoped it with the pull out bed underneath our bed. The mattress was smaller than the original mattress and was too small for the base but it was very comfortable, a good mattress. I didn’t mention this to the staff at the hotel. The fan in the bathroom didn’t work efficiently but otherwise excellent. The meals were very good and delicious.

Do not book this room for 3 people. Apparently, according to the property and Hotels.com, you can sleep 2 adults and 1 child (up to the age of 17) in a king size bed!!
The manager was rude and unhelpful, however the members of staff that checked us in was lovely.
The floor of the room was filthy, with clumps of hair and dust in the corners. There also looked like something had been spilt on the floor and not cleaned properly.
We cannot speak to the food as we didn’t eat in the restaurant but the meals we saw looked decent.

Oct 25, 2025Plenty of parking next to hotel room. In my case I could see my motorcycle from the hotel window. Large well appointed clean room with excellent en suite. Lovely views over surrounding hills. Cozy pub with real fire. Good full English breakfast and friendly staff. All good thanks and would stay again.

Great pub in a lovely location with fantastic views from the garden. The rooms were very large, as were the beds (which were really comfy). The room had everything you’d need. The staff were great and friendly, and helped out getting a taxi. The food at the pub is great, and the beer is kept exceptionally well. A great place to stay and only a 2 mile walk into Masham. The owners old WW2 vehicles in the car park are very interesting too.

Hotels.com advertises that this hotel has air conditioning - it does not. However, the staff are very helpful and it was a pleasant if somewhat warm stay.

I booked the wednesday to thursday but unfortunately the wrong week, after i explained the staff were exemplary and agreed to change my booking at the last minute. The room was clean warm and tidy and the food was really good. No complaints at all and will stay again.

Aug 12, 2026Had a really good stay at The Black Swan Inn. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the pub served great food and drinks. It's in a quiet, beautiful location in Fearby and makes a solid base for exploring the local area. No complaints at all—would happily stay here again.

May 24, 2026I arrived late and the staff were helpful upon check in. In my room however I could not find the tv remote anywhere, the bed was uncomfortable and the floor was gritty like it hasn’t been hoovered. I could clearly hear people in other rooms and periodically something which sounded like a fan switching on. The final straw was blood splatters on the bathroom mirror.
