Top neighborhoods in Zaragoza

Zaragoza Old Town

Zaragoza Old Town captivates visitors with its stunning Basilica del Pilar reflecting in the Ebro River. Roman ruins frame medieval streets where the Mudéjar Cathedral of San Salvador stands proudly alongside Islamic-inspired Aljafería Palace. Plaza del Pilar buzzes with pilgrims and locals, while pedestrian zones invite exploration of ancient plazas and monuments. Traditional tapas bars serve Aragonese specialties in El Tubo district, with cafés perfect for people-watching. Boutique hotels in converted historic buildings offer character-filled stays. The neighborhood's walkable streets make it easy to discover museums, shops, and riverfront views without needing transportation.

Delicias

Experience Zaragoza's vibrant diversity in Delicias, where international flavours and authentic Spanish life blend seamlessly. Stroll through tree-lined streets to discover family-run eateries serving Latin American, African, and Eastern European cuisine. The CaixaForum offers cultural exhibitions, while local markets buzz with multilingual chatter and aromatic spices. Budget-friendly hostels and family-run pensions make this area kind to your wallet. Hop on regular city buses to reach downtown Zaragoza's historic sites within minutes. Though quiet after dark, area bars and restaurants provide perfect spots to mingle with locals and experience genuine Spanish evening rhythms.

Romareda

Romareda blends the everyday rhythm of Spanish life with the electric energy of match days at its famous football stadium. University students add youthful vibes to this predominantly residential area, where tree-lined streets lead to small parks and local tavernas. Grande José Antonio Labordeta Park offers a peaceful escape when you need to recharge after exploring monuments and art spaces. Get your fill of authentic Aragonese cuisine at family-run restaurants where locals gather for tapas and conversation. The area connects easily to central Zaragoza via regular bus and tram service, making it perfect for travellers who want genuine city experiences without tourist crowds.

Zaragoza Centro

Centro's magnificent Basilica del Pilar stands proudly along the Ebro River, beckoning visitors to wander through cobblestone streets and discover hidden plazas. Roman ruins whisper ancient stories while medieval architecture creates a living museum throughout Zaragoza's historic heart. Pedestrian-friendly zones around Plaza del Pilar and Calle Alfonso make exploring the district's cultural treasures and traditional tapas bars a delight. Traditional restaurants serve authentic Aragonese cuisine like migas and ternasco lamb in centuries-old buildings with charming courtyards. Accommodations range from converted palace hotels to budget hostels, all within walking distance of major attractions. The efficient tram system connects you to outer districts when your feet need a break.

Learn more about Zaragoza

Wander through the Basilica del Pilar's ornate interior before climbing its tower for views across the Ebro River. La Seo Cathedral showcases architectural evolution with its Mudéjar-Gothic-Renaissance mashup that would make any design professor weep with joy. The Aljafería Palace offers intricate Islamic carvings that somehow survived centuries of religious upheaval. After dark, El Tubo's narrow lanes transform into a tapas playground where locals judge your ordering skills with subtle nods of approval. Join the evening paseo along the riverfront, where families stroll with ice cream regardless of temperature. The 2008 Expo left behind modern architectural flourishes that contrast beautifully with Roman ruins scattered throughout this overlooked Spanish gem.

Hotel Cesaraugusta

Hotel Cesaraugusta

6/10 Okay
"For the price it’s okay for a stop over but it’s unlikely I’d stay again. The pictures are probably 30 years out of date, it’s a really basic hotel with no hot drinks in the room, no sound proofing so noisy neighbours aren’t fun and just a bit dated and tired. Staff were not particularly friendly either… or helpful when I pleaded for a morning coffee :) 11 euros for breakfast was the answer. Brilliant thanks mate. One night for a family getting in late and leaving early that don’t fancy too much decent sleep it’s perfect for a cheap price otherwise spend more. "

Hotel Don Jaime 54

10/10 Excellent
"Staff were very helpful. Parking was easy just a few 100m from the hotel entrance. It cost us 25 euros to park for one 24 hour period, but we knew this in advance because the hotel let us know. I think we could have got a discount if we had booked the parking in advance with the car park company but we were not that organised! The hotel is in the very centre of the city with all the main sights within an easy walking distance. The room was lovely, modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable. It was a little bit noisy outside, but we are in the centre of a city so it is to be expected. Overall a fabulous hotel and we would definitely return. "
