Jul 7, 2026The pools are more on the warmer side unless it’s the cenotes so on a very hot day it’s not refreshing but I’m definitely not complaining. The water park is very good wave pool as well. There was no beach only on the costa bavaro side which I think it could be cleaned more. I went a few years ago and the beach is definitely not as nice as it use to be. Overall great hotel would definitely come back!!!!!

Jul 24, 2026No ice cream around the hotel not even at the buffet, they have just far way at hotel and it’s very small and closed at 8Pm. Awful for families with kids that want to have ice cream after dinner. And also the food was not so great.

Jul 25, 2026The propriety is excellent and clean the attention from the staff is too poor . In the area of the buffet you have to wait 25 minutes for drinks also for coffee or water . The waitress also was with bad actitud. Not enough employees in the area of food . Also they don’t give you enough towels in the room just one for person and sometimes they don’t change the towels if you don’t give a tip first .
Very disappointing in that part . The rooms are so nice and clean

Jul 6, 2026Beautiful resort with gorgeous pools and well-kept grounds. We really enjoyed the Peruvian and Mexican restaurants, as well as YOLO and the ice cream parlor.
Unfortunately, the experience was affected by ongoing construction. We were woken up early every morning by construction noise, and even late at night we could hear loud rumbling and furniture being moved. Restaurant reservations were difficult to get, and for lunch the buffet was the only option.
The biggest disappointment was the food. Breakfast had very limited options, most of it was cold, and even the mofongo was cold and watery. The drinks tasted watered down, and the Italian buffet was by far the worst.
Yudid Ramos and Adilenny at reception were very helpful and provided great service.

Jul 12, 2026Here's a balanced and honest review you can post:
Before you post it, one clarification: your previous messages mentioned Lopesan Costa Bávaro, but you also mentioned Lopesan Caoba Lagoon. This review is written generically so it works for either property.
We recently stayed here with our family, and while we had a good vacation overall, the resort still has room for improvement.
The best part of our stay was the food. The quality and variety were excellent, and we enjoyed every meal. The rooms were comfortable, and the property has a lot of potential.
However, it's clear that the hotel is still very new. Several amenities were still under construction, which was disappointing since we expected everything to be fully operational. Many staff members were friendly, but unfortunately, they often didn't have answers to basic questions or seemed unsure about resort information and procedures.
The biggest downside was the service at the à la carte restaurants. We had a group of eight, and it consistently took around 2½ hours from being seated to receiving our meals. While we understand larger groups can take longer, the wait was excessive and took away from the overall dining experience.
Overall, this resort has great potential thanks to its excellent food and beautiful property, but it still needs time to improve its operations, staff training, and complete the remaining construction. I would consider returning in the future once those improvements have been made.

Jul 12, 2026I was nervous about booking after reading so many negative reviews, but I’m so glad I didn’t cancel.
We stayed in Caoba Lagoon. Check-in was smooth, and we were in our clean room within 30 minutes.
Restaurants: Reservations through the app were easy. We tried the Thai, Mexican, French, and Italian restaurants. The French and Mexican were our favorites. The staff at the Mexican restaurant surprised me with a birthday song and dance. At the Thai restaurant my husband received the wrong meal, but they immediately offered to remake it.
Service: We experienced excellent service. Despite speaking very little Spanish, every employee was friendly and attentive. Drinks were constantly refilled, and the staff was wonderful with our children. My only negative interaction was at the Bávaro coffee shop, but everyone can have a bad day.
Power Outage: We lost power and A/C one evening. It was uncomfortable, but the staff handled it professionally despite some guests unfairly taking their frustration out on them.
Cleanliness: Some areas had a musty smell, but our room was cleaned daily, fresh towels were provided, and the grounds were beautifully maintained.
Beach/Construction: The Caoba Beach Club was still under construction, but we had full access to Costa Bávaro. We never had trouble finding chairs, and construction never disrupted our vacation.
The resort isn’t perfect, but the staff worked incredibly hard, the food exceeded our expectations, and we made wonderful family memories. We’d

Jul 12, 2026The property was absolutely gorgeous, and while the hotel was not on the beach it had huge and gorgeous pools. It had all sorts of amenities for families and children. On the negative, there was still some construction and employees were working on things, such as installing lighting, roofing on walkways, landscaping, and furniture installation around the hotel. Also the walk to the beach took 15min. There was also a widespread power outage that affected Lopesan Costa Barbato and Caoba Lagoon. There was no power at the waterpark or the wave pool, none of the cascades worked, no elevator, no AC on the properties and restaurants, and certain foods were affected and not served. Both properties were with NO AC for nearly 24 hours. But! the reason that I did not give the hotel full stars in my rating was because we asked for a manager several times, and while the staff was very polite and trying to hear our complaints during the outage, no manager ever showed up. We were told he was on property…. a lot of people were outraged and hanging around the lobby for an explanation, but no manager ever came out to talk to us; we heard his name was Ivan. And now with the positive, the staff smiled a lot, they danced to entertain us. They were very polite and very helpful. The food was good and plentiful; they had something for everyone. Some of the à la carte restaurants were really good. We’re definitely thinking about visiting in the future maybe when the property has it more together.

Jul 18, 2026Oh where to start! Things were bad from the very beginning. We booked a 2 bed room and they gave us a 1 bed instead. Had to endure it for 2 nights. The TV did not work and of course they did NOTHING to fix it. The power went out!! After those nights they switched us to the 2 bed and guess what? Not only the TV did not work, but also the phone! By the time they fixed (took 4 days) we were more than halfway through our stay. Our daughter got sick and could not even be entertained with cartoons.
Now moving on to the restaurants. The food is not great and you're basically forced to eat at the buffet cause reservation is needed for the restaurants. The Brazilian restaurant which is probably the best is for 18+ only. We had to leave our daughter in daycare to be able to go. Just doesn't make sense to have that type of restaurant in a FAMILY hotel. There was a night we went to the italian one. Let me mention that our girl was really hungry. Well, they took forever to take our order and she was almost crying. Not only that, they started serving the table next to us who arrived after. That was my breaking point. I immediately went to the lobby to complaint.
As everything they do is meant to make you waste time/forget about it and let it go, they made me fill out a form with all the things I did not like. Took them 2 days to offer us a late check out that was not going to work, so basically nothing!! NEVER AGAIN
Save yourself the money and bad time and go somewhere else instead!

Jun 30, 2026This is a brand-new hotel so still few amenities are not working properly, the app was not working at all during my stay (a whole week) the restaurant reservation system was awful even been done in the services desk, food was acceptable (espresso coffee poor quality, not an extensive fresh fruits selection, no natural orange juice available, they have a restaurant called Brassa Nova with an absurd policy not to allow persons under 18 years old nevertheless in the same restaurant that supposed to be top of the line the allow people with extremely poor dress code meaning wearing short and swing suite in the upper part ( Ridiculous) management was not helpful at all.
I won't recommend this hotel this supposed to be a much better experience for this type of facility
