Dirty and disappointing

Unfortunately, had a terrible experience at this motel. When booking the room online, it showed photos of what seemed like a renovated room - simple but clean, with hardwood/laminate flooring. In person, the room was dirty and had old carpet. The peephole had some sort of plastic stuffed into it, the tub was dirty, both chairs were horribly stained. The walls were extremely thin, you could hear the neighboring guests as if they were in your room. After the first night, advised the front desk we wanted to leave (originally meant for 2 nights) so the 2nd night should be refunded. Receptionist called the owner, who was extremely rude on the phone, did not apologize, and yelled "you better not come back here!", as if we'd even consider doing so. Disappointed by the condition of the motel, but more so by the owner's attitude.

Wonderful location

The Mt Whitney motel is ideally located so you can walk to everything in town. The room was large and the mattresses were excellent. The manager is very helpful and his restaurant recommendations spot-on.

The room was equipped with a microwave and fridge, which came in handy during our stay. The check-in and check-out process was smooth and hassle-free. What really stood out was the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to assist us with a few special requests, making us feel truly welcomed. The only minor issue was a slightly ripped chair in the room, but it was such a non-issue that it didn’t bother us at all. Overall, Mount Whitney Motel provides a great value-for-money experience with its cleanliness, location, and outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended!

We stayed for 1 night during our 10 day road trip around national parks in CA, AZ and UT. The property is okie but can be improved. The bathroom door was not getting locked which was a bummer. I expect motel to still have that working. No breakfast but not a dealbreaker as there are tons of nearby food places.
