wifi was extremely weak and most of the time we didn't get a signal. Location is great. Breakfast is basic.

Decent hostel, decent location
This hostel is located a few blocks south of Vancouver City Centre Skytrain station in the central part of Vancouver. It's a fairly large hostel in an older building on one of Vancouver's main streets. Despite that, my room facing the main street was fairly quiet with the typical urban noises that you'd expect even on Friday/Saturday nights (the area seemed like a bit of a seedy clubbing area but not dangerous). The six bed dorm that I stayed in was pod-style with thick plywood creating some privacy; not quite Japanese capsule hotel, but similar. The hostel has one daily organised activity that you can join, from winter sports on Cypress Mountain to a walking tour of Granville Market to hiking in Lynn Valley. I didn't take part but that seemed like the way to meet others if that was your thing. Washrooms were fairly clean and usable (6 toilets and 6 showers per floor, separated from each other, decent water pressure and enough hot water). There's a bar downstairs that serves craft beer (HH from 4PM for $4/16oz) which was decent. Breakfast from 7:30-9:30 was also served here, with the typical backpacker fare (bread, cereal, milk) but with the added bonus of fruit(!). There's also a little lounge on the 2nd floor, which while a bit sterile and anti-social, could probably be activated depending on who's there at the time. There didn't seem to be any rules or hangups about buying your own beer and drinking there instead of at the bar. Overall, decent. Would stay again.

Best hostel I've visited.
Excellent hostel. Far exceeded my expectations of cleanliness and amenities. Great value for money. Friendly and respectable staff and clientele. This is not the scummy hostel you see overseas.

Exceptional 10.0
Would recommend, just get a lock for your stuff
The room i stayed in was cute in the sense that it was like a camp dorm. The view out the window looked over a bit of the alley and the surrounding southeastern side of downtown. The people there were really nice and approachable, and if you went to get a beer during happy hour the bartender was great to talk to. The location was extremely accessible to 2 skytrain stations, a number of shaw bike racks, and the aquabusses to Granville Island or Lonsdale if you were willing to walk about 10 minutes.

Great hostel
Great customer service. Good option for budget conscious travelers, free breakfast included is tasty & healthy. The staff offer tours, and information on great deals and local businesses. There is always good music playing in the common areas, and there is a great pub onsite (amazing beer menu). I would stay here again.

Decent Hostel
Stayed for 5 nights, the staff were friendly, the bar had good deals on at happy hour and decent beer. Shower was decent and the bed was too.

Great but upset of something
Everything was great EXCEPT someone took the text book that I just bought. What would someone want with a course book? You can't really trust anyone. Make sure put stuffs in the locker.

First time in Vancouver. The hostel has a very "busy" feel, but I enjoyed it. Downtown Vancouver is very walkable, and in that sense the location of the hostel was great, but the area got a little sketchy at night. The breakfast area was too busy both times I went, but it seemed to be very basic anyway. I would stay here when I return.

Terrible. Did not stay there. Was not expecting this and could not get our money refunded.
