It’s the little things that make it!!!
You know the difference of a nice hotel to a great one is the little things. We were there for one night and leaving early the next morning and the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating from packing us a packed breakfast to assisting us with info. The rooms are unique with the finishes and the ambiance created.we loved the wood.makes the place feel a bit closer to nature. The hotel and the room was very clean and comfortable. The tea station was well stocked with fresh milk in the fridge.in the bathroom the toiletries supplied were in large containers and not these dinky ones you usually find. The gardens were well kept.my only complaint is that I only got to spend the one night there.will defiantly put it on the list of places to revisit.

Very lovely place. The room was perfect. The service great. Love the wood in the bar area and the peacock family that greeted us each morning.

Nice stay
The property was nice and the rooms were decent. I was disappointed with the view and lack of activities at the venue. Service was good and the food at the restaurant was okay.

Lovely hotel
Awesome location and comfortable clean room with a comfortable bed. The staff were great. The breakfast was delicious but unfortunately neither of us enjoyed our dinners. One suggestion would be to improve upon the extractor fan/ ventilation in the kitchen if possible as the passages/closer rooms smell of cooking.

Nice lodge; poor room.
Friendly welcome, but that’s where the good news ends. Our room, immediately adjacent to the kitchen and restaurant, filled with the smell of frying food from about 4pm. Our request to change rooms was denied. As the restaurant filled, so the noise level in our room escalated. The layout needs review. Breakfast was good.

Good choice in Underberg
We very much enjoyed our stay at Malachite Manor. The room was spacious and well equipped. All staff members were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was nice. We also had dinner there and we would definitely recommend it. With a special mention for the absolutely delicious lamb curry. Should you book a tour to Sani Pass via Trip Advisor, then you can choose to be picked up at the hotel at no extra cost.

Quality accommodation just outside Underberg
Great place, just outside Underberg. Large, spacious rooms, great beds, quality linen. Excellent service and very cosy. We went to the Himeville Arms for dinner, which was probably a mistake, I am sure the food at Malachite Manor would have been way better. Maybe next time. Will definitely stay there again, when in the area.

Wonderful stay with a personalized touch
Carrin was the most amazing hostess, ready with suggestions about the area's activities and dining, and willing to go the extra mile (think homemade cake and fun decorations) for us to celebrate a birthday. The food is cooked by her as well, and though it takes some time to prepare (it's just her after all!), it was delicious and worth the wait! She offers traditional South African fare as well as some very tasty Thai dishes (definitely recommend the chicken green curry!). Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, comfortable, and lovely stay, would love to stay there again!

Treat for my parents
I booked a 2 night stay here for my parents as a treat whilst they were on a 6 week holiday in South Africa and I received this text from my parents after their stay "Please could you send a feed back about the Malachite Lodge for us. It was excellent with the most friendly host and hostess, Mike and Carrin. The bar bill was the most reasonable out of all the hotels we have been to during our holiday. Thank you and we would definitely return to the same place on our next visit to the berg". Needless to say I think they LOVED it!
