A good choice
A very clean hotel, excellent spread at breakfast (apart from the bacon, apparently! Not that I tried it.), with plenty of options. I rate this hotel very highly, especially considering the reasonable pricing. Free access to the lido over the street is arranged through reception. Special mentions to Sina on Reception who was very helpful when I decided to extend my stay, Lela the cleaner who did an immaculate job on the room, and Lily on the breakfast service who was very efficient and helpful. Plenty of eateries nearby on The Strand, towards Sliema, and also easy access to Valletta either by ferry or bus.

I do not recommend
The hotel’s location is perhaps its only notable advantage. Beyond that, the positives quickly fade. I opted for a Superior room expecting comfort, but reality fell far short. My window overlooked the rooftop of the neighboring building (just 4 meters away), where residents routinely hung laundry and paced around—hardly a scenic retreat. The room itself felt claustrophobic, with ceilings so low I could easily reach up and touch them. The walls near the balcony and the ceiling were stark, unfinished concrete, giving the space an industrial, almost unfinished vibe. The bedding told a story of neglect: linens were threadbare, covered in pilled fabric, and the duvet cover—supposedly white—was frayed at the edges. Even the mattress seemed compromised; orphaned zippers hinted at a missing protector that once served a purpose. The bathroom offered no respite. Moisture had warped the shower paneling, leaving it swollen and uneven. Breakfast, served in a cramped dining area, was a monotonous affair with a limited selection—clearly not designed for the hotel’s capacity. Finding a seat felt like a competitive sport, and I shudder to imagine the chaos during peak season.

Loved this hotel
Quite, clean, comfortable. Large rooms. Excellent breakfast, but go before 8:00. Close to Ponsonby bus stop which was convenient to get to Valetta and rest of island. Close to bay promenade and good restaurants. Simon on front desk was most helpful. Genuinely friendly people everywhere.

Location ok. Hotel is literally just rooms and a dining area. No relaxation areas so you’re either in or out! Lighting in room is very poor - we had to leave the bathroom door open to be able to look for clothes. Also the glass panel between the bathroom and the bedroom throws an enormous amount of bright light into the bedroom in the direction of the beds if you need to use the toilet in the night, thus waking any sleepers. On the plus side, staff are very courteous, the beds are comfortable and the hotel is clean. The free beach club is nice but can obviously be used by anyone not just hotel guests so can get crowded.

October stay
We booked and paid for a superior room, but was put in a standard room. Receptionist couldn't resolve, and had to pass it to day time manager, next day. Next day we got our superior room. No aplogy. Dining room is to cramped. They need to take some furniture out. Breakfast was very average, and mostly cold. Room was lovely and staff were lovely to. No bar, sign saying it was being refurbished, but saw no work taking place, just looks like they have closed it.

Adequate for a one night stay but wouldn't want to stay longer. Right on pavement of narrow busy sideroad with alot of building work underway nearby. Dark & very busy reception, no bar/cafe/refreshment facilitates other than very busy breakfast buffet. Pool across road right on harbor, looked nice, had a cafe.
