Top Choice for Noboribetsu
This hotel has the best iconic location in Noboribetsu. Parking is easy and free. All the sites are within short walking distance of this hotel. Everything exceeded expectations. The hot spring pools are 2x larger than we have ever experienced. It will take you 1 hour if you spend 2 minutes in every pool. Room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is out of this world delicious. Wifi is fast. Lots of dining options in the hotel itself for dinner and walking distance outside. Service is friendly. Hotel is frequently sold out 2 months in advance so book the rooms early. We are really glad we booked this hotel and able to enjoy this highly ratec onsen in Japan #6 of top 100 and this hotel is #2 best in East Japan

Nice Room - Disappointing Hotel
If all you want from a hotel is a nice room then this hotel is fine, our room was very nice. However apart from a very extensive and very busy onsen the hotel offered little else. The restaurant closed at 8pm and the only place open to eat was in the basement which resembled an amusement arcade. In the morning when we fancied a late morning coffee the hotel recommend going to a cafe over the road and there was no where to sit in comfort. Disappointed overall..

Huge Ryokan with comfortable and spacious room. The highlight is the public bath which has 10+ different indoor and outdoor hot tubs with different minerals. Absolutely outstanding. WiFi was fine and stay was good. Didn’t take their meal plan because I felt it was too expensive. Note that the small town has limited restaurant options - most were closed at night in November. Ended up getting dinner at the 7-11 and drinks at the local alcohol shop which had a really nice selection of Hokkaido sake, wine and beer. But the reason to be there is for the great onsen

Family perfect stay but not something authentic en
Oerall not bad! Japanese style room was not what I expected comparing to my other experiences at hotel or ryokan. Spa is huge and nice including swimming pool.

Not a bad hotel except for the Onsen tax!
The hotel collect Yen300 per person/ nite as Onsen tax, whether or not you use the onsen which i tot is absurd! Those who dont use the onsen, its 'free' money to the hotel. Other than this, the hotel is located in a prime spot! Paking is not withink the hotel but opposite the hotel, an open carpark.

I was expecting this to be either an antiquated behemoth of a lodging or a difficult to navigate resort complex. It was neither. Takimotokan is an extraordinarily well run complex with a world class hot spring and superior modern rooms with zen views of gardens and forests. Extremely navigable for foreigners as well.

Very welcoming staff and they are everywhere to guide and help you with any questions you might have. My room is very noisy I guess it’s close to some kinda of machine / AC of the hotel? It’s a big hotel and seems got renovated recently. Overall very nice. The Public bath is very dated so be mindful of that.

Great onsen experience but definitely not kind of ryokan experience that was quiet. The japanese room very outdated . We reserved one night at modern room which was nicer but its odd dinner wasnt included and more expensive than when we stayed at old japanese room with kaiseki amd breakfast included . Kaiseki was great but wish they had wagyu . Took one star off cuz they forgot to fix our futon after our dinner and had to wait for a while . The food options also less when i think less people in hotels. We notice difference when salmon roe wasnt available anymore and times for brrakfast is cut down.
