Horrible Hotel
This place was horrible. It was like a hostel. Our room was across the street from the registration desk. No street access, no phone, no closet. The outside photo looked nothing like the place. You couldn’t use the toilet without hitting the sink. It was an awful experience and we only stayed one night. Now the hotel will not release the funds that were not used. It was so bad we rented an Air B n B. I will not use Hotels.com agIn

4/10 Fair

We stayed 3 nights and each day we were away, our belongings were sifted through and our Pfandflaschen were taken—generally cleaning staff are only supposed to empty the trash, not touch your stuff. They didn’t change the sheets or cleaning anything else—they just took our bottles, which I was planning to reuse and take with me. I also brought a limited edition anime can, which they also took for the pfand. The staff at the front desk made a mistake and apparently booked a different room under our reservation and kept insisting we didn’t pay, even though you have to pay before you even get your key. I was a little worried because we hadn’t gotten a receipt and so I thought maybe this would be a scam, but in the end, they found their mistake and let us go. Only to harass us again at the end of our stay when we wanted to check out and we had to spend another ten minutes explaining we stayed in OUR room and didn’t have another. My friend had a big dead fly on his bed and I found a bobby pin on mine (the compensation for this was a switch to another room, but it was just as bad, so we declined). The room smelled mustier than an attic and if the window was opened, you had to deal with all the people below talking and arguing well past 4am. Every night. We won’t talk about the showerhead. The price was cheap, but I definitely won’t be staying here again.

Dont go by images on booking sites!!!!
I booked a room with a Queen Size bed and the photo on the website gave image of a spacious room. However this was not the case. My room looked onto the main high street and it was noisy all night even at 3am!!!! The room was box sized. The shower you could just about turnaround in and the shower curtain did not to stop the water from going onto floor. You get what you pay for. I would rather have paid a little more and have a better sleep. Images in website need to change to show correct room size. Also found black hair in my bed and tiles in bathroom were missing the grout. Overall a very terrible experience. I can’t believe what I was expecting and what I got!!!!

Comfortable beds, noisy streets
We needed a quick place to stay in a town where almost all hotels were booked. Staff was wonderful, helpful, and friendly. While our building was old and in need of a facelift, the room itself was clean and had everything needed, but an extra lock on the door would be nice. Our bed was quite comfortable! With the lack of air conditioning or even fans, windows must be kept tilted open to help with the stifling heat. All night yelling and screaming from people below could be heard. I wish the hotel were in a better location. Breakfast was fantastic!

10/10 Exceptional

The hotel was really well placed in, very close to the Christmas market and within an easy walk of transport options such as trains. The hotel was clean, our rooms were quite big. The beds were very big, and very comfortable. The sofa bed was a little less comfortable but that's to be expected and didn't ruin the trip. Pillows are quite soft, so for those who like something a little more firm, it would be best asking for a second pillow. Breakfast is open until 10:30am. A great selection of food, both hot and cold which tastes great. Staff were very attentive and incredibly friendly and helpful. Only downside really was that you can hear people closing doors/talking in the corridors from your room

Perfect for an overnight stay
Rooms are small but ideall for a short stay, very convenient Location. As the Hotel is centrally located the street outside can be noisy but rooms are well soundproofed. Buffet breakfast is very good.

Its ok for Essen
The location of the hotel is walking distance to the train station. I was given a room not at the main building however across the street. Ugly building, very worn out carpet. Breakfast was acceptable.

I like the friendly staff and the location. I don't like the small dusty room. Also, my room was heading the street, and I couldn't sleep some nights due to drunk & party people shouting at it. This led to headaches and poor business performance for me.
