Disgusting
The hotel is run down and filthy. Bugs everywhere, roof leaks, I’ve attached photos. They did not offer breakfast - breakfast is one of the reasons I booked this hotel instead of another. My son cut his leg in the pool, there was blood everywhere and they didn’t even ask if he was okay. They gave me gauze and a bandaid, and didn’t come to clean up the blood. It probably is still on the floor.
This was the vent in the bathroom, it was not on the ceiling. This is reachable by hand on the wall, and should have been cleaned between visits. Filthy.
This is the ceiling in the room we stayed in.
Right above the doorway to our room
Elevator full of bugs and filth. Burnt out light bulbs. Trash cans full and smelly in the hallway next to the elevator

Not unexpected
I read reviews and felt fully aware of the outdated condition of the hotel. Was surprised to find no towels in my room, I had to ask for them at the front desk. No toiletries either. Stated they were “waiting on a shipment,” which felt like a line they’ve used a lot. The staff was friendly and available. The building itself is definitely run down. Very 90’s. Double paned windows with moisture trapped, impacting the view. The balcony felt unsafe. Climate control in my room was great. Quiet nights even with a room by the elevator. Restaurant closed, pool and gym were open. Plenty of walkable areas nearby for food and activities. Good location, just plan on bringing your own bath amenities.

Booked a king over 8 months ago, once we got there they had given them away so we ended up getting a huge room with extra beds when other families or groups could have utilized that size. They didn’t have soap, shampoo, conditioner or coffee. The room had a nice view of the beach.

First and only time visiting
Where to start…. The parking area and appearance on the outside was great. Upon entering the beautiful fish tank in the pictures was not at all what I had seen. It was dirty and had about 5 fish. At checkout I was informed that they did not have shampoo, conditioner, or coffee. As I was on a short trip I needed these items. Also the in hotel restaurant was closed. My room was dated but comfortable and my view was amazing. When my family and I went to the pool we were informed there were no towels. The second day they did offer us a bathmat to dry. We then decided to go to the vending machine. It was stocked, but two of the three sodas were expired by three months. After talking to the other quests I found out that they all were told to put their towels and garbages outside of their doors because there was no room service. I was not told that. The hotel guests I talked to were there for a NA conference and staying a lot long than I was. I can tell this hotel has potential and was nice at one point. I remember when it was build it was the hotel to go to. Now I do not see it being my choice.

Not impressed
There was no soap, shampoo, the couch had rips in fabric, the freezer door kept falling off. There was only 1 towel, took them awhile to find us another one. And both key cards stopped working. Had to jeep going downstairs .

Stay at your own risk
This was one of the worst maintained hotels that I've stayed at especially given the $150 price tag before taxes. Not only was everything in the hotel extremely old and dated, their was moss growing inside the double pane windows, the outdoor chairs and table hand dirt and algae growing on the, the outdoor table was actually overturned when I checked into the room, the balcony had a puddle and was very dirty, and even though the best thing about this place was the views, all of the windows were dirty and stained. Add to this, the place had now supplies. There were two spots near the sinks for tissue paper, and there wasn't any. When I asked the front desk about it, they said that they had run out of tissue paper and that they would be delivered at some point. Several days in, I was running out of shampoo and asked the front desk again. They said that they had run out of shampoo and that only the home office could order more. In addition, the restaurant at this place was shut down for the season, and at check-in the front desk staff said that there would be no housekeeping service and that if I wanted fresh towels to ask for them at the front desk. This is the worst delivery of services given the money that I paid at a hotel that I've ever experienced. I will say that the people who work here were very nice and tried to do what they could with their limited resources. They all seemed resigned to the situation though.

Ocean view disappointment
It was a nice stay, aside from the ocean view i specifically paid for. There was no ocean view. There was a lovely view of bushes but that wasnt what i was looking for. There were also no additional towels.

Always Our Choice
All rooms face the Pacific Ocean with a balcony. Rooms are one bedroom studios with a sofa, desk, dining table, and lots of draws. There is a bar sink, microwave, and mini refrig in the kitchen. There is another sink and split height counter next to the entry door. The bathroom is across this entry counter and is not cramped for space. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The tv in the kitchen is an out-dated tube. However, there is a flat screen in the bedroom. Rooms are not upgraded to charge electronics. Bring chargers that plug into outlets. Wi-fi is spotty. Great if you have 4G or 5G. Out of coffee and facial tissues. They did provide shampoo, but only 1 tiny bar soap. The restaurant has been closed for years and still waiting for new management to do something about it. The Shilo Inn has the potential to be a premier hotel. If it is upgraded and become a full service experience for guests, it could easily become Ocean Shore's premier accommodation. However, that said, the rates will undoubtedly go up. Meanwhile, owner and management is doing their best with what they have. I do hope they stay in business because we sure like staying at the Shilo Inn.

Good trip to the ocean
The hotel room was large and accommodated us well! The only complaint I have was that the toilet was not clean when we arrived to our room! Made me a little worried what else might not be clean. The staff that we did come in contact with were friendly. The hotel is old and outdated but has a pool which made my kids happy! Wished they had breakfast since it was difficult to find a place to eat and had to resort to McDonald’s which we didn’t want to do! Overall we had a nice trip and will likely stay at The Shilo Inn again due to convenience and price!

Toilet issue
Hotel is very under staffed, our toilet clogged, hotel staff was unable to locate plunger. After having to deal with smell all night, I went to hardwear store and bought the plunger. On the bright side, the hotel made it right by reimbursing me for the plunger and giving us a discount. Hotel is clean, very dog friendly and the pool is great. Very close to.the beach and great stores. Other the the toilet issue i would stay again

Shabby hotel
Hotel is in awful condition. Reservation said breakfast included. Restaurant was closed. Did not even have coffee. Saw at least 5 “out of order” signs. Our room had ONE towel. Yes ONE. Furniture is threadbare, “fireplace” is a plastic log with a red lightbulb behind it. Only good thing I can say is it was quiet.

Hotel is past it's prime and needs supplies.
Hotel was older but clean. Staff was friendly. However, this is our second trip here, and both times they were out of coffe. They also ran out of towels for guests on this trip. Thier key cards will erase if next to anything metal so that is a hassel. The restaurant was still closed. That being said, they have nice prices and a great ocean viw.

Stay was comfortable, spacious but dated room would have went with a better rating but the hotel ran out of clean towels, even though I was told by the front desk that they would have more and to leave our towels outside our door. Very irritating to not have a towel after sitting on the hot tub, and also after showering.
