A very okay stay.

I have mixed feelings about this resort. This was a very spur of the moment trip, so we didn’t do much research before we booked. Overall the experience was okay, there’s just a few things that could have been better. The resort itself was nice and clean. All the staff we came in contact with were very friendly. Our experience at check in was fine. I had booked a room with a King sized bed. When we checked in, we were told we had been “upgraded” and that the “view” would be better. This turned out to be completely disingenuous. When we got to our room, it was the 5th floor, but the view was the pool and it was a double queen room. They likely oversold the king, and if that was the case, that’s fine! But don’t sell it as an upgrade. There was also an adjoining room door with no soundproofing so we got to listen to our neighbors wake us up continually, at 2am then 4am. Which that is not the hotel’s fault, but I have never stayed in a hotel with such poor soundproofing. The food on the resort was good as well, just know you’re going to pay for the convenience. There was a breakfast buffet that they charge $30 and it’s basically a holiday inn continental breakfast. Everything else we had was very good and worth the price though. And the last note is that this is advertised as beach front, but it is a decent little walk to the beach, and there is a lot of construction going on to upgrade amenities both inside and outside.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway

Had a great weekend stay at the Sonesta Resort in Hilton Head! The staff was friendly and the renovated guest rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable! Even with the resort under construction, nothing was off limits and the beach access was incredible. Would recommend, and just a note that first floor rooms tend to be for pets. This was not a problem for us but might be for future guests so if it is, book a higher floor!

We were not told construction was happening right outside our window. Drilling rumbling noise started early in the mornings and one day at 3AM, couldn’t sleep all night. Also not enough staff at front desk. Most of the time nobody answered when I called guest services

Hotel was undergoing renovations. Unfortunately this wasn’t disclosed anywhere, and it affected our stay. The construction outside by the pool, (we paid extra for a pool facing room) was very disruptive and loud. We were unable to sleep in. They seemed to be understaffed. When we requested housekeeping to set up the pull out couch, they just brought us some bedding and told us to do it. Overall not a horrible experience, but definitely underwhelming

Construction impacts experience

Hotel under construction so many amenities weren’t available - fitness room; restaurant was limited; and constant construction noise. Best part was the maid service. Otherwise other staff seemed disconnected from their roles. Maybe the construction is getting to them too.

The resort was under construction which was listed nowhere in the listing. The amenities were not all available and had we known as would have booked elsewhere. We passed up another comparable property based on false advertisement.

Was heavy construction . . .indoors and outdoors. At minimum should waive the resort fee of 80 bucks for two nights when place was a complete wreck.
