Try around the corner

Lovely pool, average food and most of the staff seem friendly. Sadly my trip was marked by the fact the dormitory i has booked for absolutely stank. I asked the receptionist to upgrade and he acknowledged the smell. Then I was told to pay $10 to upgrade to a single when the rate on hotels.com was $5 difference. They also offered to spray the room but I ended up pushing for $5 for my own room which was a lot better. Ended up arguing with reception staff during check out. One told me that I was making a fuss and everyone else sleeps in there. Plenty of other nice places nearby that don’t smell like drains.

Well situated near the pub street and The pool is nice. Towels and sheets are not very clean and they don’t give shampoo or shower gel. The room is so so!

The first room we were given had a problem with the toilet. We were moved to another room in which the AC was not cooling. And the toilet was poorly designed with the fittings being placed in the worst possible way.

Good location and staff

Location was excellent. Staff was friendly and accommodating. On the listing it says we were to have a refrigerator and kettle as well as a rainfall shower, but non of those were included. Overall a good stay and would stay there again.

Inexpensive hotel near night market

The hotel looked nice, our room was clean with good linens, our room's AC worked well, wifi was secure and there's an outdoor pool. Unfortunately our bathroom regularly had cockroaches in it. Our hotels.com booking mentioned welcome drinks and we did get free bottles of water in our room one day. Our room reservation included breakfast which was cooked to order in the restaurant on the first floor. We only went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast, but they were open room service and had a happy hour. The staff was nice, spoke English and even allowed us to print our bus tickets at the last minute. There's a list of activities including Angkor Wat at reception with reasonable prices though you might be able to haggle lower prices with tuk-tuk drivers who do not work for hotels. It's only a couple minute walk to the Angkor night market. Guests should be aware that Bayon Shadow Villa is technically a different hotel from Bayon Boutique though the two share reception/lobby/restaurant/pool. Tuk-tuk drivers may only know one or other other, so keep that in mind when getting to the hotel. Bayon Shadow Villa is the budget side, so the phones in the rooms are disconnected. For room service, you have to go down to the restaurant to order. It was not a problem for us, but be aware there is no elevator, only stairs.

not value for money

Room doesn't look like family triple room as shown on booking.com, no fridge, old bathroom, tv not work, no hangers to hang clothes, no kettle. For amount paid you get more at some cheaper hotels. Second day they ran out of milk for breakfast which was bad. Overall staff nice but won't stay again.

2/10 Poor

My stay at Bayon Shadow Villa was full of frustrations and disappointments. The aircon does NOT work, the internet does NOT work, the room is dark, no closets, the shower is dirty and stinks, the showerhead is directly facing the toilet bowl which has the toilet roll so you end up with a wet tissue roll after a shower. The whole place is soooo dusty, the curtains seem like they have n’t been replaced and the phone in the room does NOT work! After a tour to the Angkor Wat on a 38-degree heat, I asked them if the aircon could be fixed or my room could be changed. Sure, the receptionist made a few phone calls to what I assume would be the technician/repairman for aircons. After that, she asked me to go to my room and wait for someone to come. Oh yeah, nobody came in that afternoon. Before I went out to dinner, I asked them again about the air con - hoping it will be resolved when I come back. I came back at 10pm and the aircon hasn’t fixed yet and my room was very hot! Nobody can sleep in that condition! I asked the man on the front desk if he could change my room because I cannot sleep in the 38-degree heat, and he said he couldn’t change my room because *drum rolls* “it is late at night, you should have told us earlier” WHAT?! I told them twice that day if they could fix the aircon or MOVE me to a room that has a working aircon. And also, do not believe those photos. This is false advertising. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else! This place will spoil your stay!

Just go somewhere else. Run down and false advertisement but don't worry they will find the resource to get your dollars rather than fix it... Room are run down, came in, no light in the bathroom, no big deal they fixed it. Water bottle as advertised ? What water bottle ? Angkor small tour is advertised for 15$, not bad. Oh you want to go for sunrise ? We forgot to tell you it's 20$... Look for the hotel driver in the sun for a little while cause could not find him where he said he would be... Come back they kindly stapled the ticket, on the luggage, through the fabric... You want to go back to the airport ? Oh it's free pickup only, we charge 5$... Apart being sorry they will not make any commercial gesture to make the airport transfer free after that... Just don't go there, it will give you the impression you are a walking wallet and they fake smile...(paradoxical when the WiFi password is sinceresmile ?) They can go sincerely out of business.

Frustrating

All bookings are online, the desk has no say, at least for the advertised price. I was led to believe my room would be available for another night, but I ended up having to move. Most staff have little English, so my lack of Kmer was part of the problem. I asked the man at the front desk to contact my tour operator, and he refused, said I could do it myself! Nice lobby, lovely pool area.

A decent hotel decent people central

Seriously decent place to stay at.near sorta bus terminus so you can tell the tuk tuk drivers where to go/ just walk 300 metres from night market and wait for it 500 m from pub street.life begins and ends in pub street should really be renamed fun street. I booked this hotel by accident pure luck am going back there in June no frills just decent accomodation anyone can afford . Downside:no stairs try walking up 2 flight of stairs after a night in pub street -good luck to ya Downside:mosquitos could not find where the critters were coming from invest in mossie coils and spray the suckers will eat you alive
