Not a great experience- they did not have the restaurant booking I had made just a week previous (they did say they could make room for us, but all seemed a bit disorganised) and breakfast wasnât up to much (we overheard that the chef hadnât shown up, however the staff member didnât tell us this and we had to wait over half an hour and ask twice for coffees that he was doing at the bar). Room was nice just feel no one had much of a clue what was going on.
Lovely big room, comfortable bed and good shower. Quite a lot of noise from the bar, but it didn't go on late so wasn't a problem. The restaurant is pricey, and the Continental breakfast buffet was disappointing, but overall this is a good hotel option in a city which doesn't have a lot of good-value accommodation.
Room was nice bigger than expect since described as cosy. Bed and pillows were comfortable. However traffic noise kept us awake most of the night, impossible to have window open.
The bar and rooms were nice. The rooms were a little too warm with quite a bit of road noise, but all that said, I'd still go back and stay there as its a great location.
A large, comfortable, quiet room overlooking the pub's outdoor area (room 6). Good location at the base of the town by the river. Cooked breakfast was not included but for ~ÂŁ8 the cooked vegetarian option was good.
lovely staff. The room was lovely , but traffic noise was very loud only saw the earplugs they supply in the morning. The bathroom needs sorting out the sink tap wouldn't turn off completely so trickled all the time. The shower nearly overflowed as it was blocked and it was very hard to get the right temperature.
Hotel was nice and lunch was very good so were surprised when we found the net curtains in our room dirty and main curtains were not properly attached. The plumbing was very noisy and the shower cubicle could do with a thorough clean and decals. Other than than that the room was OK and the bed comfortable. Unfortunately my wife is allergic to feathers so she asked for replacement pillows and was met with a shrug of the shoulders and the comment that heâd have to go to the shops to get some and clearly wasnât going to do it. We were disappointed that the hotel did not go the extra mile to make what was a pleasant stay much much better.
No. 5 Bridge Street was a lovely little place in an unbeatable location. Rooms were big, beds comfy and the staff were very nice. However there were a few issues. Our shower and bathroom sink were both broken (shower was scalding at itâs coldest and thatâs no exaggeration!), and the breakfast was missing anything filling. I liked it, however my husband was none too pleased with his options! Staff seemed responsive when I told them about the bathrooms. Additionally, our rooms overlooked a cobbled alley which was very, very loud in the morning. We noticed in the morning that the hotel provide ear plugs, so make sure you wear them :)
All in all weâre still happy to have stayed here. Just would have liked some better options at breakfast and a working bathroom bathroom (bad luck more than anything for us!).
Was a little disappointed with the room as it was very small, and needed cleaning a little better than it was ,
It said on the website, the rooms have a minibar , a safe deposit box , and biscuits, we couldnât find any of these in our bedroom
We stayed here only for two nights as we attended a wedding nearby. Considering this was comparable in price to nearby Travelodge or Holiday Inn we made the right choice.
A very welcoming and nicely decorated pub, with a few nicely kept rooms upstairs, it really felt as if we were guests at a lovely house rather than at a hotel. We were instantly made comfortable and the staff were helpful and attentive.
We had lunch at the pub itself one day, which was great. Our room itself was small, but advertised as 'cosy' so it was as expected and more than enough.
Winchester itself is a lovely city and the pub is well located.
Comfortable bed, clean room, nice bathroom, pleasant staff. Enjoyed our stay and nothing to complain about.
If we were to return to Winchester we would stay here again.
The hotel is located centrally to everything in Winchester. It has a lovely restaurant and nice bar area. My only suggestion is that they should provide hair dryers in the room. Otherwise itâs worth the stay. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are very clean.
This comfortable, stylish inn could hardly be in a better place - two minutes' walk from an overnight multi-story car park, a walk along the river, the bottom of Winchester high street and St Catherine's Hill. The staff were always friendly and accommodating and the expected noise from the patrons in the evening dies down soon enough.
An excellent two nights' stay, I thoroughly recommend.
Lovely restaurant with rooms. Ours was a little on the snug side, traffic is noisy at the front but can't really be helped. Nice towels and accoutrements. Would stay again just wish it was a little cheaper.
The room was clean and well appointed and good shower, only downside was the street noise though the single glazing which i suspect cant be changed due to conservation rules, but decent earplugs were provided.
Staff were excellent and food was a delight.
Breakfast didn't start till 0800 which was a little late for me
