Affordable Beautiful High-end Hotel
This place is top-notch. The staff actually want you in their hotel, it was a pleasant surprise. The room was comfortable. You need to order a coffee maker for your room, but one was delivered pretty quickly. And the TV does not cast so bring your casting device with you.

Eh not worth the money
All staff were wonderful except for the front desk staff. They were short and abrupt and not very accommodating. I booked a Premium Room with a King Bed that stated we would have bathrobes, but on arrival they said they weren't guaranteed. The room itself was fine, nothing particularly premium about it. The pillows were awful! So flat. And the hotel itself looked bare and raggedy, and didn't look like much care went into making it feel warm and welcome. The experience in the lobby and the restaurant on site was wonderful though. The food was great!

Must Stay Hotel....Historical Beauty !!
Historical. Beauty. And amazing food. You can just sit and wonder at the amazing grand room for hours. I feel sad for those that don't know about this hotel. The Peacock Doors made by Tiffany. The sculptures. The ceiling.....the elevator doors. Etc All incredible and the way we should build again! Friendly staff. Dinner food was incredible. Best Brussel Sprouts ever. Stay and bask in history of a 150 year old hotel that could easily charge more per night.

Atmosphere is great, rooms are outdated
The Palmer House is so historic, and we love that part of it. The lobby is one of the best places to visit and people watch. It is wonderful to admire the history, but the rooms definitely need an upgrade! The bed is comfy, but the furniture and floors and shower alll need a major upgrade. Our room was incredibly small. The elevators are incredibly slow. There are so many nicer places to stay in Chicago, but come here for the history and lobby

Elegance from a Bygone Era
Palmer House is the perfect spot if you want an elegant place to stay. It is a unique experience in this day and age when everything else is modern and drab. You feel special simply by your surroundings. Their commitment to true hospitality is also evident. There is so much to look at, and so many places to camp out, if you like. You will not be disappointed.

I booked a king room, but when I arrived, they told me they had oversold the king room and "upgraded" me to an accessible room with a king bed. The room had a shower curtain, and the shower was so small that as soon as you were in it, the curtain stuck to you the entire shower. Overall, a pretty uncomfortable experience. Beautiful inside the lobby, the rooms themselves leave a lot to be desired.

Great location for Art Museum and Symphony Center
The Palmer House is a beautiful building with many offerings. This was my first stay since we usually stay at The Allegro or Silversmith. Unless the price was right, I probably wouldn’t choose to stay here again. The boutique feel is overrun by the Hilton brand and there were too many small things that added up quickly. A closet wall sprayed with some sort of brown liquid, wallpaper peeling off in the bathroom, a loose screw on top of the toilet. Too many kids and a less than satisfactory in-room breakfast experience made for an overall underwhelming stay in my opinion. To be fair, I did receive an email explaining how software issues affected communications regarding breakfast service and that items were removed from the bill, which was appreciated. Perhaps my expectations were too high due to my excitement at staying at this historic building, but there are other choices in downtown Chicago that hit the mark for me. On a positive note, the waitstaff in the Lockwood Restaurant was outstanding. Attentive, genuine and warm, they made the entire trip. The prix fixe menu was great and it was a nice opportunity to try the famous Palmer House brownie. The Front Desk staff was friendly and helpful.

Wonderful hotel, redo the rooms!
The service is wonderful and the lobby and gym are amazing. The rooms are very comfortable but are tired and dated. Peeling wall paper, light switches from the 1960’s, dated furniture, stand along mini fridge from my college dorm room, bathroom tile that has been there probably 50 years, drilled into and patched many times, etc…. You get the idea. It’s an historic hotel, but the rooms aren’t antique or quaint. They’re just old and desperately need a redo.
