HEADS-UP FELLOW TRAVELERS - things to know if you stay at Inn at the Park. Pros: It's across the street from Balboa Park. BEAUTIFUL area. Near shops and restaurants. Do not miss coffee at Cafe Bassam. Jimmy Carter's Mexican restaurant is excellent - delicious food. Trader Joe's is about a mile away. Hotel staff, very nice, very helpful. Cons: Avoid the time share Concierge. It was a high-pressure, unpleasant experience. I've stayed at this property on 3 previous occasions. This time chose to not go to the desk and get my "treat bag". In this way I escaped the hard sell. This property used to have wall-mounted shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Those have been removed, and there are no small bottles of same. If you're going to be there more than 1 night, bring a bar of soap with you. The only soap offered is a tiny 4-inch piece. I stayed there this time for 5 nights (to visit w/friends who were there), and the absence of basic amenities became a challenge. I normally wouldn't be so picky in this regard, but for a hotel that charges upwards of $285.00 a night, these details are not small. The mattress was the worst I've ever experienced in a commercial property. Wi-Fi is "iffy". Television programming and content is sub-standard. I liked this hotel previously, but the services here have taken a marked downward trajectory. I will not stay here again.

The room was beautiful and spotlessly clean! The bed was very comfortable and the size of the room overall was wonderful! We were never crowded. The valet’s were speedy and very helpful. We will definitely stay here again when in San Diego!

A GREAT place to stay in San Diego
All staff at this facility were just great. Rooms are spacious and well equipped and the location is one of the best in San Diego. Lots of places to eat and shop are within walking distance. And Pete the valet - lots of information and referrals that are just the best!

Back off with the time share pitch
We had no idea this property was a time share. The sales pitch was deceitful, long, and high-pressure.

First time here—- we’ll be back
The hotel is older, much older. Elevator is slow. The floor in the hallway creaks like a scene in a horror movie. They gym is a joke. Rooms are very clean, furniture is updated and in clean working order. Don’t forget your wall plug for your charger because they don’t have usb ports in the room like the modern hotels do. Overall I would definitely recommend and stay here again. Having the kitchen was a huge plus during our stay.

8/10 Very good

I was unhappy with the screaming homeless people at night. I was okay the first night but the problem was solved. 5 nights of a homeless man dreaming I. The front of the hotel. Same conversation he was doing 3 to 4 hrs a night. In front of the hotel near our room window. Everything was nice . But 5 nights of screaming homeless man we will be looking for another hotel next time. It’s to bad because it was nice

Lovely Hotel and Location But Beware!
Lovely hotel near restaurants. Across the street from Balboa Park. Front desk staff was very nice. Comfortable beds and room. We would stay again. Be aware of the sales staff who hounded us all weekend to sit through a presentation to buy into the vacation time share that this hotel is part of. Avoid This!

Great location, but be ready for the sales pitch
I like staying at this hotel because of the convenience and size of rooms. However, as soon as I check in and start making my way to the elevator, I start getting harassed by the team at the concierge desk. They want me to approach the desk because they want to give me a "welcome package." I did fell for this trap before, and once I'm there they try to convinced me to attend a timeshare presentation, and visit their partner locations. This last time I stayed there, I tried as hard as possible to avoid the concierge desk, BUT then I got call in my room from the concierge desk asking to go down to get my "welcome package" (they actually do give you a little bag of stuff you don't really need, but that's just a prop to hook you into their sales pitch. The call was initially disguised by asking me how everything was in my room. I told them the ironing board was broken, but nothing was done, as this person's incentive was only to get me down there so I can listen to their sales pitch.
