6/10 Good

Nice hotel, few things to improve on.

We booked through Hotels.com and had a complete cost which included all city taxes (paying the whole amount on arrival). This seemed to cause some confusion for the check-in clerk who wanted to charge the city tax again, and had to get a manager to discuss and explain. This delayed our check-in. On checking in we were asked whether we would like housekeeping during our stay which we agreed we would like; unfortunately this never happened during our stay and we had to request clean towels etc from reception. Our room was right next to the elevator which was noisy; particularly as our stay included a Saturday night and many people coming and going. Overall, a really nice hotel and we probably would stay again, however we would be mindful to ask for a different room location.

Stylish hotel, but staff service should be better

Cool, stylish hotel, well located in east Amsterdam. Rooms are spacious and well designed, the restaurant and terrace are nice areas. The staff professionalism is below what you would expect at this price though, particularly in the restaurant. Service was slow and often things were forgotten so the staff had to be reminded. If they improve this, it would be a good hotel.

Comfortable hotel

The hotel is nice and comfortable, but the restaurant was very unpredictable and the food is just eh. They don’t have cooks one day and could only serve granola and yogurt but they didn’t tell you upfront.

Simply perfect

The hotel was in a quiet and safe area. There was a garage nearby, we could walk to the central station along the canal, there was a tram stop nearby, and the breakfast we had at their restaurant was fantastic. The staff was so kind as well. My favorite thing was the outside playing area for the kids and the outside seating area was perfect in the beautiful spring weather we had. The rooms were spacious and clean and just so beautifully decorated. Supermarkets nearby and everything you could need. We have an event coming up in Amsterdam and we will definitely book here again.

Ideal hotel for an Amsterdam break

The hotel had a lot of original features which was charming. The staff on reception were great and both check in and out was very smooth. Our room was clean and well stocked. The hotel is very close to Rietlanden tram station, which takes you to Amsterdam Centraal in no time. Unfortunately our experience in the restaurant was disappointing, the service was very slow and uncoordinated. Maybe the staff were new or they were short staffed. What ever the problem was, we went elsewhere for our evening meals.

Nice hotel, dreadful service

The hotel itself was lovely, clean rooms and plenty of space for the family. The staff however were a shambles. We turned up at 15:00 (check in was from 14:00) and had no room ready, and they could not tell us when I would be ready. We had to leave out bags and head out. There was no apology or explanation. Once we returned (at about 21:00) we had no towels and they didn’t have any to spare. No showers that day. The breakfast staff were rude, slow, and unaccommodating (my request for an omelette was met with a firm “no” with zero explanation). We had to ask multiple times for drinks which took upwards of 40 minutes to arrive (although other people’s did arrive a few times). I tend to prefer a buffet and this was a set breakfast menu with no rush at all, or flexibility. Nobody seemed at all interested in the customer experience. There were clearly not enough staff on for all 3 days. We will not be returning.

A Nice Boutique Hotel in Amsterdam

I recently stayed at The Huxton Lloyd boutique hotel in Amsterdam, and it was a very nice experience. The stylish decor perfectly blended modern elegance with the city’s historic charm. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, offering personalized service that made me feel right at home. My room was cozy yet luxurious, with thoughtful touches like plush bedding. The location was ideal, within a short distance of key attractions, yet tucked away enough for a peaceful retreat. The breakfast was delightful, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I highly recommend this gem for anyone seeking a unique and comfortable stay in Amsterdam.

Highly recommend for family of 4. We had the mezzanine room with stunning double height windows. Fab service, great breakfast, easy regular tram service into Centraal Station. If you like Wes Anderson you will love the building & decor. Main niggle was room felt a bit too hot at night.
