This ryokan was one of the absolute highlights of our Japan trip. As a couple travelling with two young adult kids, it was the perfect place for all of us to slow down and recharge after Tokyo.
The biggest highlight was the four private onsens โ no reservations needed, yet there was always at least one (often even more) available. It made everything feel so relaxed and effortless. The ryokan itself is small, intimate, and incredibly well thought out, with beautiful attention to detail and high-quality touches like POLA amenities.
If you want to experience a true traditional ryokan, this is it. There were hardly any foreigners, and the staff spoke very little English โ but somehow we managed just fine, which made it feel even more authentic. The secluded setting adds to that peaceful, escape-from-it-all vibe.
The food deserves a special mention โ we stayed for two nights and every breakfast and dinner was completely different and absolutely exquisite. It really elevated the whole experience.
We were initially concerned about having no bathroom in the room, but it turned out to be the best thing โ it gave us more reason to keep going back to the onsen. Our kids loved it so much theyโve already made us promise to return on our next Japan trip.
