"Our room was clean and spacious, and staff was helpful with anything with any questions asked. The hotel provides valet only (no self parking) and uses a covered and secured garage so we were relieved but did not keep any valuables in the car. Getting your car can take some time but that is clearly stated from the beginning. They also provide you with a # to text when you’re ready to leave so plan 10-15 min or so ahead of time."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Oakland

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Oakland is during February, November, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those looking to explore the city's key landmarks, cultural sites, and historical attractions, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. During your visit, you can enjoy a variety of experiences, including live music, theatre, art exhibitions, and architectural marvels, as well as indulge in the local dining scene. This makes Oakland a great value-for-money destination for anyone interested in sports, entertainment, and the arts.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Oakland on Hotels.com, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute DealsOpens in a new window sections, where you may discover discounted rates on hotels as your travel date approaches. By enabling email alerts or push notifications, you could stay updated on flash sales and special promotions, helping you save. Hotels.com also features Smart ShoppingOpens in a new window, a tool within the app that allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're informed if prices drop or rooms become available. This way, you’re more likely to seize the opportunity for a last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate based on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could potentially help you find a better deal on your stay in an Oakland hotel. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price leans towards the higher end, we may suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable to assist you in your search for a great rate.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be pricier, but with Oakland's outstanding public transportation options, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby cities, there is often great value for money available. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
