We stayed here for 4 nights. Wednesday through Sunday. There’s a bus stop right down the street but only until 7pm. If you come back to hotel after that the nearest bus stop is a 15-20 minute walk. And on Sundays the bus doesn’t run until 1pm- which was unfortunate because we needed to get to the airport- but staff arranged a taxi for us on Sunday morning which was fantastic. Other than limited transportation in area, everything else was great. The room was spacious and perfect for what we needed. Bed was made every night we came back to hotel. Bed was comfy and temperature in room was good as well.

Outstanding staff and service! I wouldn’t change a thing. I went for Art Basel and planned a bit short notice but was lucky enough to find this darling place. Rooms are classy and modern with real art, air conditioned which many people staying in much more expensive places didn’t have. Food is exceptional and at an incredible price compared to the norm for Swiss. I highly recommend. They are indeed service animal and pet friendly as well!

Save money minutes from Basel

It is a great location just across the border from high priced Basel. The room was like American sized with a large bathroom. Plenty of room for someone to take a shower while the other uses the sink or toilet. I’m hate those bathrooms where it so small you can’t hardly turn around. Plus no one was at the border checkpoint during any of our crossings

Highly affordable hotel in Basel's vicinity If you want the type of glitzy anonymous hotel that you can find in every big city you should pass on this one. If you prefer a more personal, traditional environment you should try this one. Honestly, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better deal in the Basel region. Don’t be deterred by the fact that the hotel is located across the border in Germany—the border is open and crossing it is no issue at all. The room I was in was clean, and fairly comfortable. It had a fridge with a minibar. Breakfast is good and, while not included in the room, is very reasonably priced. No stay at the Krone would be complete without trying out the restaurant, which I can’t recommend highly enough. Leaving the food aside (which is outstanding—good local cuisine from Baden) the service is friendly and personal. A perfect place for dinner, also with business associates from Basel (the restaurant is well-known and also frequented by locals from Switzerland). What you may have saved in booking a room at the Krone may be offset by your dinner bill (I’m not saying that the restaurant prices are bargains), but it’s definitely worth the indulgence.

Comfortable stop-over

Stayed here to break journey between Switzerland and Germany as conditions terrible (winter - snow, high winds). I was provided with everything I needed - warmth, food, a shower; room basic but perfectly comfortable; staff very kind and the chef re-opened the kitchen to cook me something - greatly appreciated; restaurant v nice. Free outdoor parking in quiet area - seems pretty safe. I'll come here again - it makes the next day's drive a pleasure.
