Where to start? I booked throught expedia 2 months before my vacation, the full amount. After realizing that this is on an island and would be inconvenient i contacted expedia multiple time to reimburse and book another one(2months in advance is more than enough for expedia to make there money back). They disagreed and told me to contact the dorado people. I took a week of back and forth for them to switch me to the dorado in boca grande for a surplus. I arrived in the boca grande hotel and it was dirty, discussing no attention to detail and very smelly. When in the lobby i couldnt suspect anything wrong but once i entered my room it was sire i wouldnt be able to stay there for a week. I proceed to book another hotel in the old fortified city which is way better and CHEAPER. When i wanted to check out they ask me if i want to change room! Big joke i dont beleive there is descent room in that place. Do yourself and family a solid one and do not book with that whole chain. And expedia need to do way better on client satisfaction! I need a reimbursement or voucher! Anyway very disappointing experience

Not recommended. Stay on the mainland instead.

My regret is staying on an island for a whole week. I should stayed on the mainland and gone to the island just for a day trip. The hotel service was terrible...not from everyone but the majority of the staff was less than accommodating. The room faced a rooster farm, they made noise from 2am throughout the day. One night the chef left early and we were unable to eat for dinner because there was no food prepared. Going to the island no one told us that we had to carry our luggage ourselves onto the boat which got wet both ways. The staff covering the bar were lacking in customer service and most of the time, not present. It was nice having a beach but it was sooooo dirty with garbage. The only good thing about this hotel was that the food was actually pretty decent. Only 2 days they had buffet but there wasn't enough ppl for buffet style so you had to make sure you reserved what you wanted to eat for lunch or else you couldn't eat. It was not ideal. The rooms had mold, no shower curtain, no hot water in the w/c and the TV never worked. Overall, I wouldn't stay there again. It was advertised as an all-inclusive...but it wasn't really that. Stay on the mainland....dont stay on an island for an extend amount of time. The boats only run until 4 or 430pm so you're stuck until the next day and everything on the island closes early on the island. There was only one lovely store that was open until 7pm to buy essentials like booze since the hotel was lacking on that part after 6pm.

The hotel said it was all inclusive with the food, drinks, they control the portion of the food, if you ask for another piece of break they said it was1 per person, it was the same with meat, chicken or rice, on the last 2 days it looks like the chef arrived, the presentation of the food was a little better.. The transportation is very limited, I sent e mails before my arriving and nobody answer, we lost the first night because the flight was delayed , I tried to reach out for the transportation, but they only has it from 9 am to 11 am to take you on boat to the island, I spoke with the person in charge for the ship and she explained it to me, that they have a contract with the hotel, she provided me the phone# from another ship, but I had to pay out of pocket for this on Sunday, so we decided to stayed in another hotel due to the inconvenient. The next morning I spoke with the person in charge in the hotel to let them know that we will arrive on Monday morning ,explained that we had an issue with the flight and nobody answer. He never notified the arrival to the reception. They don’t clean the room, they knock your door to clean when you are inside so you can declined. The price in the relation with the food, drinks services and cleaning, it is not worth it. The last night we had to go to another hotel, I asked for my refund they said that is not with them. I Lost my money.

Do NOT stay here, does not look like photos, NO hot water, black mold on pillows and bedding, non responsive staff, owner is a con artist who told us to cancel through Expedia and rebook through them, then declined to refund the Expedia reservation - so they double charged us. Don’t stay at this hotel, or on this island. The beach in front is a public beach, no hotel staff outside the locked gate. WORST hotel of our lives.

The pictures are photoshopped to make property look attractive. The directions to get to the hotel are incorrect. You are required to take a boat, a very unsecure boat to rrach the property, for which there is very little traffic, so boat drivers charge excessively for trips. You are at the mercy of the boat drivers being available to get to and from the hotel. The package that is promised and the food leaves air to be desired. Overall, i stayed for 2 hours and booked elsewhere. That should say it all.

This property Is located in Tierra bomba, the hotel has a terrible infrastructure the floor is uneven all around, where the buffet is served it seems To be an obstacle course. You can not diferénciate the steps and all are uneven, I had a terrible fallout I have bruises all around my legs. The next day my friends saw rats, so we asked to get transferred to El Dorado Cartagena. Where we encountered another problems. Just avoid ElDorado en Tierra bomba or Cartagena

Below my expectations

The Beach was beautiful and the building itself had much character but the services was terrible. They did not mention the wrist bands until we realized we couldn't eat without them. There were no restaurants on the Island so we had no choice but to each on the hotel. The food was awful. Deep fried corn bread, definitely not what I would consider an AREPA. Coffee was terrible they ran out of Milk. The staff was somewhat friendly. I presume they did the best with what they had. Do not bring Babies, there are No highchairs and the rooms do not have a fridge to store milk. Room was clean, cleaning staff was great.

The place is super run down and not very well kept. The service is hit and miss. Some people are super attentive some not so much. Pool closes at 6. Área is not very safe, but it's an ok place to get away from the city.

Good for a night on the island, but not more.

I decided to stay here with my girlfriend for one night only. The hotel clearly had lost its charm many years ago - it was just continuing to run without causing much of a stir. Very spartan room, however everything was clean and worked. Service was very good, but it looked more like some patron's forgotten villa then a luxurious beach front hotel.

Great place, needs the right guest.

Wonderful place, with customer oriented staff. A little run down and got allergies in the room. The shower was very minimal. If you're used to traveling in 3rd world countries and appreciate the difficulties of running a hotel on a remote island, I'd recommend this place. Otherwise it would be challenging.

Beautiful beach, not much nightlife.

The beach was fabulous, the water is fantastic. The staff was super friendly. Nice hotel for those seeking to relax. If you like a little more excitement (night clubs, casinos, shopping, etc.), you will probably be bored, and getting on and off the island is a bit complicated, as they only have small boat service coming back and forth from the mainland.

good hotel to relax at the beach

To be honest the hotel is in no very good condition, but they are building and reparing a lot. I believe a got one of the worst room. So some other rooms and they looked nicer and cleaner. The food was not very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful, except for the old recepionist. His spanish is very hard to understand and he is not very helpfull. The hotel has a nice pool and the beach infront of the hotel is beautiful. You have from there a nice view of new Cartagena. After 3pm the wind gets really strong and its not comfortable anymore to be at the beach. The island on which the hotel is located is not part of rosario islands. Its actully way more complicaded to do a trip to the islands from here than from cartagena. The boot to the island costs $3. You have to take the boot at the beach "boca grande".
