A rustic stopover at the Roulottes Du Berry
Picked out from a the usual hotels as something different. The caravans are much more ‘rustic’ than the pictures but habitable. Was very hot and the air cooling unit didn’t make any difference. We had to be moved from one caravan as the door was not closing and the other was difficult to close. I guess from the wood movement, they are a little wonky. The staff were polite and friendly.
Nice to have a small pool for the kids. The communal games room/restaurant was good for quick meals and had pool table/table football and table tennis for the kids. Good for a stopover, not sure we would spend more than a couple of nights. Still very happy we picked it for a one night experience (2 adults and 2 kids).

So You Want to Live in a Tiny House?
This place is for people who want to have a unique experience in Europe. It is not really a hotel but a place to "camp." It is kind of a "tiny house." The rooms are actually train wagons that can sleep up to five adults. They have a bathroom with a shower, kitchen, and a table with five chairs inside. It is great for adults, but I guarantee that young kids will love it.

Great location, fun area, the trailers are great fun to stay in. The wifi did not work and the breakfast was very underwhelming.

Characterful, but past its prime
One night stop off on journey. Site was essentially empty with only one other occupied caravan out of 50 odd. Not allowed to keep car near caravan, so need to be aware if have fully loaded car that you don't want to leave unattended. Wifi didn't work near caravan and staff had no knowledge of what to do. Caravans characterful but in need of refurb/maintenance, particularly shower which didn't 'encourage' usage. Not spotless, but different to a hotel guests should be aware that they will be expected to clean caravan and unmake beds, otherwise will be charged a further 20 Euros. Very pleasant experience as quiet and a bit of character, but asset getting very tired and needs investment.

Quirky, rural and not bad value for the money
Quirky little place, which I'd thought would make a change for us and the children.
Manager didn't speak English too well (spoke French, German & Dutch), but she managed to communicate due to her persistance.
Restaurant on site, but restricted to hot dogs and frozen pizza.
Breakfast (not included in price) was very limited to 1 x small croissant & 1 x small choc au pain for each person - very expensive for the 45 euros for 5 people.
I still like this though!

Caravan 1 nighter
Used as an overnight stop. Location is good, something a bit different than a standard hotel.
Site is nice and nearby town has a great Scottish/French restaurant.
It was 35+ degrees on our stay, way too hot and the caravans don't cool until wel into the night and the 'Air fresheners' they provide just don't do anything. Having said that they are comfortable and adequate for a nights stay.

Gypsy caravans
Caravans are lovely and clean , lots of fun to stay in, I recommend cooking your own dinner and eating it in the quiet of the grounds on your own picnic table! Donkeys braying didn't spoil a lovely quiet night.
The area is a little ...weird, attached to a horse race ground, and the wifi is too weak to bother with, but apart from that it's great for a stop off and the pool that is hardly mentioned online is lovely.

Something a bit different.
Was nice to stay here as something different from bland hotel chains. Just stayed one night on part of a road trip. Was a very hot day but managed to cool down the caravan by opening the all the windows and put the plug in fan on. Can do simple catering with kitchen facilities. Beds were comfy although not quite full size. Bathroom very adequate. Useful washing machine on site. Lots of fun for young kids. Pretty much a posh campsite.

Somewhere different
We stopped here as an overnight stay travelling from the South. A super little site with helpful staff that seem to speak all the major European languages. The caravans are great, not for the clastrophobic as double bed is in a cubihole at the back, though i'm 6'2 and not the smallest bloke and was plenty comfortable. Only downside really was the 'restaurant'. More really a snack bar and a few drinks. We'd difinitely recommend what appears to be the only restaurant in the village. Les Trois Perdix, fantastic meal, run by a Scottish couple, they serve haggis and have Guiness on tap. We would recommend this for a stop or shortbread wholeheartedly.

Nice place to stay, but remember it is not a hotel
I stayed here with the family for one night only en route to the south of France and it is a most unusual arrangement of 'gypsy caravans' in a large circle with recreation facilities in the centre. The caravan was well equipped with cooking facilities and a refrigerator as well as utensils and plates/glasses etc. Though not large inside there was enough room for my wife, three kids and I to get a good night's sleep and the beds were comfortable, and there was no noise outside to disturb our sleep. There was a double bed and two singles that double as comfy seats in the day. Overall the kids loved the arrangement.
All was great until we went to check out in the morning to be told that we couldn't leave until an inspection of the caravan had taken place. During the inspection my wife was told that she must also wipe and put away the washing up that she had done, and sweep up and strip the beds. I was visibly taken aback by this and was told that we could pay a 'cleaning charge' and not worry! I was told that this is normal for this type of property, but it did not say anything about it during the booking process or at check-in so was a bit of a surprise! So do be aware of this when booking, they pointed out that this is not a hotel but a vacation property.
Overall I would recommend this as a very pleasant place to spend a few days or break your journey without resorting to a characterless chain hotel by the motorway.

Roulottes du berry
Lovely rural setting, close to small village with nice restaurant run by English couple offering traditional French food. Donkeys, games room, park and tv for kiddies, nice food area with terrace and free wifi. Accommodation immaculate with all the essentials you need.would defo go back perhaps for 2 or 3 nights. Not sure there is too much to do in the area other than walks as not a lot going on but great if you want to get away from it all.

Perfect for a family stay
A really original way for an overnight stay. Would be suitable also for a more-night stay. Village of Lignieres is very nice, typically French with nice local market on a Monday morning. Staff is also very nice and helpful.
