This is one of the toughest reviews I have had to write.
I was in the city to stay with my dad for a couple of weeks. We spent the second week in welcomgroup hotel. I’ve stayed at the hotel chain in other cities so knew they have a high standard.
The experience, this time, was mixed. The staff was absolutely fantastic across the board. They offered us every courtesy and convenience we could have asked for. It was a top tier experience in terms of staff willingness to help.
Having said that, the hotel infrastructure had issues. Slow shower drain caused bathroom to flood, wifi had technical issues, the doorbell had technical issues, the battery operated in-room safe had no batteries in it. These were operational issues. From a design standpoint, the twin beds were narrower than typical. The room had a desk and an office chair but wasn’t spacious enough to accommodate a coffee table. There wasn’t enough space in the room for in room dining for 2 people. The in room dining service was inconsistent. Although the food was great.
The infrastructure is obviously quite new and modern with several automations, elegant fixtures and high standards. But the processes required to uphold a high standard suggest that the hotel management can do a vastly better job to improve employee and customer experience.
Having said all of that, I absolutely loved the hospitality orientation of every staff member. They are a lovely bunch. So I will definitely stay here the next time I am here.
