"For anyone travelling on a tight budget, listen up. Private bunk bed room, just for yourself, no sharing with strangers. At that price, in El Nido, there’s nothing comparable. I used every free thing this place offers. Coffee in the lobby every morning. Water dispensers on every floor, so I never bought a bottle. The rooftop space is quiet and open, I did yoga up there a few times, which I wasn’t expecting to find at a hotel. The massage place right next door is one I saved for the last day and immediately regretted not going sooner. I would have gone every day. The staff helped me sort out island hopping without me spending hours researching, someone came to pick me up on the morning, and El Nido from the water is genuinely something else. I want to go back."

Fünf Tage in El Nido. Nicht wegen Island Hopping, sondern um einfach irgendwo zu sein, ein bisschen zu lesen, spazieren zu gehen und den Kopf frei zu bekommen. J Boutique passt zu dieser Art zu reisen. Das Hotel liegt am Ende der Hauptstraße, aber der Straßenlärm kommt kaum rein. Nachts war es ruhiger als erwartet. Das Doppelzimmer ist klein, aber das Bett ist gut. Das Verhältnis stimmt für mich. Das Personal hat mir ein paar Strände empfohlen und ein Tuk-Tuk organisiert, ohne dass ich befürchten musste, beim Preis übers Ohr gehauen zu werden. An einem der Strände habe ich einen ganzen Nachmittag verbracht, ein halbes Buch gelesen, niemand hat mich gestört. Das Dachterrace war abends angenehm ruhig, ich bin ein paarmal mit einem Buch hoch, und der Morgenkaffee in der Lobby hat sich zu einem stillen Ritual entwickelt. Das sind die Dinge, die eine Reise gut machen. Was mir gefehlt hat: kein Frühstück. Ich bin es gewohnt, dass es eins gibt, und der kleine Umweg nach draußen zum Suchen hat jeden Morgen etwas gestört. Nicht schlimm, aber man merkt es.
