This isolated resort is amazingly quiet, refreshing and relaxing. The bungalows over the lotus-choked waters are comfortable and roomy. Mornings in Inle can be chilly, and the staff readily supplies extra blankets and they also capably attend to sightseeing needs and taxi service into town. The buffet breakfast is simple and flavorful with Shan noodles and a variety of other dishes that change daily. The downside to this place is the dinners. We had a bad experience with unbelievably slow service on our first night there, we were only one of four tables of diners, and tasteless food - my Burmese extends to ma-chai-boo, meaning "I don't like it", but we decided to give it another chance. The next night we scaled down our expectations, but it still took 45 minutes for a side of french fries and the other food was equally unappealing. So, I would recommend the hotel, but go elsewhere for your evening meal.

The room initially looked great but it soon became apparent that it was in need of some updating. They were clean and comfortable with a lovely balcony overlooking the lake to sit out on - the seats themselves were uncomfortable and falling to pieces in places. Wifi was none existent in the room and we had to sit in the reception if we needed to do anything urgent. The dining room was very big and could accommodate all the guests; the food was basic; breakfast had a reasonable choice. The pool area was good, although we were lucky to get a lounger, there wasn't many; towels were not readily available and we had to ask at reception for them (one day we had to ask twice). This could definitely be managed better and more loungers are needed. Staff were helpful, especially the lady at the reception (I think her name was Mu Mu?) who helped with following up our onward transport from another agency when it didn't turn up. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Lovely large clean room, but unfortunately water levels in the lake were low so we were very disappointed that the overwater bungalow given to us was not overwater! (there were some bungalows that had a little bit of water around them). The swimming pool was lovely and the garden view bungalows looked a better option. The whole place is in need of maintenance, paint flaking everywhere, overgrown and unattractive entrance way, rotten boards and holes in the walkways and many lights not working. On the up side, the staff were delightful and there are free bicycles available. The one thing that was sadly lacking, and I think would be very beneficial to entice guests to spend time at the main areas of the hotel, and inject a bit of life, is to place tables, chairs and umbrellas on the huge decks around the restaurant and reception. It would be lovely to be able to have breakfast and meals outside to enjoy the view. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of foods, but none of the Bain-maries were lit, so all was cold and not enjoyable.

Poor
Overpriced and rude staff
If you think you're booking a romantic stay here then think again and go with better options. What to start with? Bungalows are not on the water actually but rather in the middle of a swampy area with tons of mosquitoes at nights. So what is the point of the view? The hotel is horribly overpriced and the food is mediocre at best. On New Year's Eve I couldn't finish my plate thats how bad it was (not worse as their amateur show they try to put to impress guests). Breakfasts are better but the food is cold and probably the worst we had in our stay in Myanmar. Thank God there was a small restaurant just 7 minutes down the road with excellent food and service and four times cheaper too. That was a life saviour seriously. Pool is large and with nice views but the water is icy cold so impossible to swim. The so called is gym is full of broken equipment. Looks like no one cares to fix it. They do care about your money only. Drinks are four times more expensive than in the local shop fifteen minutes down the main road. On top of that the receptionist tried to rob us by claiming we took a 1l bootle of water from the fridge. That was very mean and unprofessional. After we confronted her she didn't even apologize as if a regular occurence to put some extra charges on guests and accuse them of being thieves. Overall, this hotel was possibly the worst in all our stay in Myanmar and the most expensive too. Not all that glitters is gold, so think twice before ruining your holidays.

wow, just great!
we had a very nice stay at the Serenity Inle Resort. very welcoming staff and the frontrow bungalow (with moskito nets and very spacious) was great for sunset. we also enjoyed a lot the infinity pool with drinks and the restaurant and breakfast. the infrastructure is not top new, but the great massage was very relaxing. it was a bit cold in the eating area start of january but in the confy bed we had extra blankets - thank you. in all of our 4 weeks in Myanmar the receptionist Aung Swe Moe was just exceptional. he advised for the boot trip, next day organised a great trekking day trip for us, and for leaving the hotel organised a very nice family that took as by boar to Phekon - what a great insight in the culture of around Inle Lake area - Thank You!!
