Top neighborhoods in Vancouver

Downtown Vancouver
Central business district meets diverse neighborhoods, featuring high-rise apartments, Granville Mall, Gastown Steam Clock, and Sun Tower. Easily accessible via SkyTrain, SeaBus, and water taxis.

Gastown
Gastown's cobblestone streets weave between Victorian architecture and the famous steam clock, creating a perfect blend of history and modern style. This walkable area buzzes with independent boutiques, art galleries, and innovative restaurants. The statue of "Gassy" Jack Deighton watches over Maple Tree Square while heritage lampposts illuminate the 19th-century brick facades. Upscale gastropubs and farm-to-table restaurants dominate the food scene, often requiring dinner reservations. Boutique hotels in converted heritage buildings offer character-filled stays. The area sits just two blocks from Waterfront Station, making exploration of Vancouver incredibly convenient.

West End
Fashionable Robson Street offers shopping and dining, while parks and beaches like Stanley Park and Sunset Beach provide outdoor activities. Explore the Stanley Park Seawall promenade and enjoy amenities along Denman and Davie Streets.

Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant buzzes with creative energy in Vancouver's coolest pocket. Browse the artsy shops on Main Street or grab a flight at one of the craft breweries tucked into converted warehouses. Food trucks serve up global eats while murals splash colour across brick walls, creating a perfect backdrop for your exploration. The area strikes that sweet balance between trendy and authentic. Getting around is a breeze with frequent buses and the Broadway-City Hall SkyTrain station connecting you to downtown in minutes. Accommodation options range from heritage building boutique hotels to modern lofts. For a break from urban wandering, stroll down to False Creek's waterfront paths or kick back in a local coffee shop.

Kitsilano
Kitsilano's laid-back beach scene gives you the best of Vancouver without the downtown hustle. Volleyball courts and the heated saltwater pool at Kitsilano Beach draw sun-seekers, while nearby Vanier Park houses the Museum of Vancouver and Space Centre. West 4th Avenue buzzes with yoga studios, organic cafes, and boutique shops that honour the neighborhood's hippie roots. Travellers can choose between charming B&Bs in heritage homes or vacation rentals with mountain views. Buses connect downtown in just 15-20 minutes, and dedicated waterfront bike lanes make car-free exploring a breeze. The restaurant scene emphasizes fresh seafood and Pacific Northwest cuisine, perfect after a day of beachcombing or sailing.

Sandman Signature Vancouver Downtown Hotel
"We have been staying at this Sandman Inn on Georgia St. in Vancouver B.C. for the past at least 25 years. This time, we stayed in a room with a king size bed. The room was clean, comfortable and very quiet; you wouldn't have known the hotel was full. We specifically stay at this hotel for the proximity to other businesses, restaurants, Rogers Arena, the waterfront, etc. This was our first time eating at the restaurant downstairs, The Shark Club. The food was delicious and the staff were great! The hotel staff is friendly, kind and beyond helpful. On this specific stay, the hot water in the shower in our room wasn't getting as hot as I like for a shower (it was lukewarm; however, the sink water was hot). The hotel staff were very accommodating, and I ended up getting to take a hot shower after all. They checked the boilers first thing in the morning and were very efficient. The room was spendy, but as my family says "You get what you pay for". I highly recommend this Sandman hotel."
Hotel Willo (formerly YWCA Hotel Vancouver)
"I was very happy camper with it location was fenomenal"
EXchange Hotel Vancouver
"Good location in the heart of downtown Vancouver."
The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver
"My favourite hotel in Vancouver! It’s beautiful and the staff are amazing. They are super friendly and go the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need. We were upgraded to a corner room yesterday and given perks through Expedia we didn ’t even know were available. We used them for dining credit in the restaurant and the service there was truly 5-star. We won’t stay anywhere else in the city."
The Parker Hotel and Rooftop
"The rooms are very clean and the staff is so friendly and always welcoming and willing to help out with the questions around the cities and other areas."

To make the most of your trip and fully experience the city's key landmarks, cultural sites, and historical attractions, it’s recommended to stay for at least 3 to 4 days. This duration allows you to explore the vibrant urban landscape, visit museums, enjoy the scenic waterfront, and discover the city's impressive skyscrapers, all while keeping your travel expenses manageable.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals to Vancouver, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute DealsOpens in a new window sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. By enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com, you could stay updated on flash sales and special promotions, ensuring you don’t miss opportunities to save. Additionally, Smart ShoppingOpens in a new window is a handy comparison tool available through the app that helps you compare hotel prices and amenities, so you’re more likely to see when prices drop or when new rooms become available for your spontaneous getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a more affordable stay at a hotel in Vancouver. If you're interested in unique accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer you a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre generally tend to be pricier, but thanks to Vancouver's outstanding public transit system, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit farther out that remains well connected. For those interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby cities, you can often find excellent value for your money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
