An anthropomorphic bronze doe in a rather suggestive come hither pose along the bank of the Scioto River. This is the work of artist and country singer Terry Allen.

The idea came to him after learning that Scioto is from the Shawnee American Indian word for “hairy water.”

Shawnee Indians named the river after migrating from the Carolinas to find deer hair floating in the river.

A collection of snacks from the new Schokko Art Cafe inside the mueseum.

The Columbus Museum of Art recently opened the Margaret M. Walter Wing (which adds 50,000 square feet of new space).

The Columbus Museum of Art always seemed diminutive compare to other art museums in the state. This new space completely reinvents the experience of visiting the museum.

The House Chamber accommodates Ohio's 99 elected state representatives.

The Chamber was designed by Nathan B. Kelley, one of the original Statehouse architects. Kelley used a great deal of ornament and detail on the building's interiors. He was fired because the commissioners overseeing the project felt that these extra flourishes were both too expensive and too lavish.

President Lincoln spoke in the House Chamber on February 13, 1861.
