Cheap, clean, great location.
So, it is what it is, not bad, not great. It is very reasonable and I love Chinatown/Financial District, food and bars are fantastic. I'd go back.

Cool little hotel in the Middle of it All
Excellent location! Across the street from the Dragon Gate. Cool little hotel, very artsy as the name implies. These are basic rooms, very comfortable but a Victorian bathtub/shower. Perfect for our purposes but we only had the room to sleep in.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the murals of wrestlers on the walls were both funny and cool – definitely a unique touch that made the place feel more lively. However, the room itself had several issues. There was a weird smell, likely coming from the rug, which really needed a deep clean. To make matters worse, I found a sewing needle on the floor! If I had stepped on it, that would have been awful. It made me wonder if they had vacuumed at all. The window wouldn't stay closed on its own, which was annoying. The sink was also inconvenient with two separate spouts for hot and cold water, making it tricky to wash my face. The lighting in the room was terrible for doing makeup – not ideal at all. Additionally, the shower rod kept tilting to the right during my shower, and I had to keep adjusting it. It definitely needs to be stabilized. Overall, the quirky decor was the highlight, but the cleanliness and functionality of the room were disappointing. With some attention to detail, this place could be much better.

There is no staff. No amenities. There was a Keurig coffee maker in the lobby, but no coffee pods. No hot water in the shower.

Great location
First the positives. The location is excellent. Cable car and BART stations a short walk away and China Town begins just across the road. Union Square close by. Cleaning staff were very helpful. Negatives- when you are depending on a message to be sent so you can use an app to check in, your greatest fear is the message won’t come. That is exactly what happened. Caused lots of stress and phone calls to a number listed at reception to sort out the problem. Challenging after 20 hours of traveling. You get what you pay for - the bed was basic and uncomfortable and the shower was in a high bath and was difficult to access. TV in my room couldn’t access any stations. Also,if you needed help the lobby is only staffed for short periods. One late night we had a loud guest next door and I had to sort the problem myself because there was no one on site to help. If you want a basic hotel in a great location stay here. If you are looking for modern comforts look elsewhere.

Ok for the price but no staff at all. I emailed twice with some problems and no one answered. Water fountain ran out frequently and coffee was out of order on three occasions. No response for the supplied phone number and email address is totally unacceptable. Which is a shame. We will not stay again

Comfortable...easy to get around to and from. Stairs are a little wonky. No front desk staff present but that was on for most of my stay. Had to rely on apps and codes to get into hotel and room. App for room did not work 2nd day even after uninstalling and trying to reinstall app. Besides getting in room app is how u check out. I called number posted in lobby and they were kind and tried to be helpful. Said they would check me out on the back end. Been close to 30 minutes and no confirmation of checkout yet. Besides being forced to use technology I really enjoyed my stay

Bush street - get a room away from the road !
Bush street is very loud and since rooms are assigned at checkin there is no way to change rooms or even inquire. We did get early checkin so that was good.
