Saved by the staff!
A lovely stay in Porto could have been much different if Paulo from reception had not arranged a room move from the 1st to the 6th floor. The experience from then on was 4/5star! The noise from the road ( both traffic and pedestrians) was intolerable at 1st floor level but unnoticeable once we moved. The entire staff at this hotel are the stars and deserve recognition. Whilst the rooms are pleasant and comfortable and the showers excellent, in many respects this is as it should be for the price paid. The breakfasts are lovely but once again the staff are even better! The hotel does give a complimentary bottle of water each day and a small chocolate sweet which is so unremarkable I’m not sure why they mention it in their questionnaire! As I pointed out to them this is customary in a small B&B in England. On arrival at a similarly priced hotel in Lisbon we received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and some fruit and there was a complimentary mini fridge refilled daily!!

Excellent City Break location
Fantastic location in the Heart of Porto. Everything was accessible within walking distance and for things further away, there was the metro right outside the hotel and plenty of available taxis. Lovely rooms with super kng size beds that were really comfy. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating.

We stayed at two properties. One in Lisbon (das Letras) and one in Oporto (Aliados). Both very comfortable and easy to get around. We parked and took Ubers everywhere. In Oporto we availed ourselves of couples massage at the spa. Atmosphere and cleanliness incomparable. The two ladies were lovely. The massages, we both agreed were just ok.

The hotel is very nice, but it should not be categorized as a 5 star hotel. Aside from the great location, there isn’t much about the hotel that feels like you’re getting a 5-star experience. The staff was friendly at check in, but don’t acknowledge you anytime afterwards. The breakfast is completely self serve with very minimal service from any one. We didn’t have the breakfast included in our stay, so for 20€ per person, I’d expect a bit more than self serve coffee machines and minimal food options. If you’re looking to stay in a great area, this hotel has that. But if you’re fully expecting a 5 star experience, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

I loved my stay at Eurostars! It was an unexpected stay as we were supposed to leave for home that day but had to book this hotel last might due to a flight cancellation. Well, I'm so glad I was able to experience Eurostars Aliados. The room was beautiful (even had a balcony!). The shower was incredible, the a/c was perfect, and the bed was super comfy. The staff was also attentive, even meeting us at our uber with a luggage cart. And the complementary bottle of wine was tasty! I also loved the steamer iron in the closet. What a great way to steam out a dress really quickly.
