Stay here, it’s fabulously fantastic.
An absolutely stunning hotel, such a brilliant conversion (it’s so clearly still the prison that it originally was, in a really very good way!), beautifully fitted out (what a great bath) and with such great and friendly service. Definitely in my Top 10 of all hotels I’ve stayed in (and I do stay at rather a lot), I will be back - hopefully with my wife some time (this was a business trip). If you can, stay here, you won’t regret it.

Perfect …almost
Unique and very nice building. High end look and feel. Shame about the dining experience. Any regular restaurant it would have been great. For a high end spot, it just wasn’t quite there. The servers seemed to care yet they knew nothing of the food or drink choices. Breakfast was good. The building missed the mark in having information about the hotel’s construction and even signage.

Great experience but watch for stealth charges
Unique experience staying in a jail. Room was great and comfortable. Food was good, not great and expensive. Was a fine dining menu but only side was greens and chips, which didn’t really go with the menu. Potato option would have been better. Made to go through champagne bar and felt needed to order drinks before being allowed to go through to the restaurant. I’m guessing in an attempt to try and upsell drinks. Although to do this would need actually offer a menu! At check out tried to put an optional reception and house keeping service charge to bill with no previous mention of this. Felt very awkward when we didn’t want to pay…£200 a night room should cover any service charges!!!

We stayed one night in a family room, the rooms were very tastefully designed and accommodated the 3 of us comfortably. The entire hotel is immaculate and has been transformed from former prison to hotel perfectly. We dined at The Chapel restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Will return again, everything was perfect!
Everything was perfect! The staff, the hotel, the decor, the amenities, the food. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and they did two swan’s with rose petals surrounding them. Minibar was stocked, yummy shortbread to try out. We went to the chapel for breakfast, which was delicious, and had a drink at the champagne lounge the evening before. All staff were cordial. Take the tour for a glimpse of the past, its fascinating!

Highly recommended
The hotel is a very impressive and imposing building, the staff are lovely and the food is exceptional. The way the old jail has been converted to a hotel is really quite amazing. All the fixtures and fittings are of a very high standard. We loved the room and the fact that it had previously been 3 prison cells! It’s also in a good position for exploring Cornwall.

The jail has been beautifully restored. The lighting looks incredible but it makes the room quite dark if you actually want to get ready. My biggest bug bearer is that there was no socket near a mirror with a shelf to get ready or do you hair. The staff were nice but all undertrained if any training at all.

Our stay was a special treat to end a holiday we were already on in Cornwall for the week ending 22/09/24 Everything was lovely & the hotel was interesting considering it was a prison!! All staff were helpful, polite & understanding, plus hard working considering they were under staffed in the restaurant, This I totally understand as I am also in the catering industry working as a Head Chef for gastro pub . The only problem which could have been a problem was I wasn’t asked if I had allergies when we ordered in the restaurant on the evening dinner ( of which I have !!) I did tell the waitress at the time . I was asked in the morning. Also I was surprised there wasn’t any beer choice on the evening only cider of which I’m not a fan of ? Considering you had a fairly full hotel I thought this could have been sorted , as for the value of cost per night I’d expect this . Plus the parking was an issue as we had to park on the bank drive & unable to park in the car park, we were told the extended car park was closed for work ? Other than that we had a lovely stay Thank you

Absolutely WOW. What an amazing place. Room was very comfortable and whole place was very quiet. Lots to look at within the building. Food was great and staff were also very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be going back if we are in that area. The museum next door was amazing too, well worth a visit.
