Horrible experience

Absolutely disgusting hotel, the place and carpets smelt of sewage. The lady told us that we had bed bugs and she would get in trouble if she told us anything. Upon hearing this we immediately wanted to leave but it was so late we was not able to find accomodation and was forced to stay the night. Never again

Chandos Guesthouse

This is a bargain priced Guesthouse that is close to the railway and to town. It’s a little threadbare but is excellent value for money. The manager, Richard, is very helpful & knowledgeable. I’ll be staying there next time I’m in Folkestone.

European Motorcycle Trip 2023

2nd time I have stayed here, the 1st time, it was great, a nice fresh B&B, however this time, it was a very rundown B&B, very grubby and tired throughout. One thing that worked well was the fire alarm which went off at 23:59, but there was no direction from anyone on-site and people just went back to bed.

I would give it 0 out of 5. The owner was fighting with a screaming woman on the stairwell before 7 a.m. The hotel advertises private parking. This does not exist. I was told to find a space on the next street and move my car before 9.This should not be on Expedia. There are prostitutes and drug dealers using the place according to a local. Should be shut down.

Steer clear !

Absolutely awful. The place smelt so bad. Carpets are thread bare. We had the thinnest of duvets on our beds. Dog barking periodically throughout the night in the garden. No parking as described. In street only. Was in a rush to get to our crossing in the morning after an awful night sleep and completely forgot to get pictures but it’s bad don’t waste your money. Our carpet had burns on and in general just wasn’t clean. Just so bad all of it !

I usuallt look for something positive to say, but frankly i struggle on this occasion. The place looks tired and shabby. Our room was in dire need of a clean and refurbishment. Thete was mould throughout the shower and ceiling. The wood around the shower was rotten. Cowwebs hung from ceiling and there were dead flies behind the bedside locker.Would not stay again.

Run down

Look, we lasted an hour befor leaving and getting a premier inn, and here is why 1. The place stinks, like stale smoke and animals 2. The place is filthy, our bed has blood on the sheets, catpet is in need of a deep clean, rubish everywhere, bathroom ceiling is broken clearish perspex with a variety of bugs and other unknowns inside it. 3. This is NOT a b&b this is a b.. there is no breakfast facility at all and hasnt been since covid started 4. Site manager is grumpy and clearly doesnt want to be there, chased us for an arrival time while we were on route, and then just gives us the key, tells us to where to dump it in the morning and walks off..

Dated and damp

Absolutely apalling. I had the family room and it stank of damp. The bathroom not only smelt stale and damp but had a huge puddle of water as you entered and near the toilet. The toilet roll was soaked through sat on the sink unit. There was also an out of date open bottle of milk in the fridge. The chap who greeted me was pleasant and amply friendly and helpful but the room was dire. Had I not have been travelling with four children including a young one already asleep upon arrival I would have complained and demanded an alternative room or a fix to the minging water issue in the bathroom, but for a single night with very early departure and an autistic child who would have had a meltdown if woken..it wasnt worth the hassle. Cant comment on food or any other services offered. Decor dated but ok, carpets worn and threadbare. Parking is on street out the front and only free overnight.

TRES BOF...

Worst accommodation ever

We had an awful stay having to cut it short only staying one night. We tried to call beforehand to ask about parking and give our ETA but no answer, when we arrived and the gentleman said he had unplugged the phone As soon as we went inside an awful smell of dogs hit us. After noticing little toilet roll, no tea, coffee, milk we went to the local shop for supplies and air freshner. The room also lacked hand towels. Bedding seemed clean. When we came back another guest was crying on the phone to the police as her bag had been stolen from her room. We were shocked and went to check our room which then smelt of cannabis but hadnt earlier so we were unsure if anyone had been in. Hearing more commotion, another guest explained to us this was a half way house where the homeless have been placed. As it was then 11pm.we tried to get some sleep but was difficult with dogs barking throughout the night and shouting downstairs at the front of the property. We were also worried someone may enter our room so we put a chair under the door as we were unable to lock it from the inside as the lock was broken Also no breakfast is available either. We left for the day taking all of our belonging just incase. We arrived back late afternoon to abit more commotion. We were told by another resident the owner had emptied a guests room and had placed her belongings outside. When asking the owner what on earth was going on he said 'the place is a sh*t show' and walked off into his room.

To say this place is 1 star would be too generous.Turned up to front door to be greeted by 2 guests comparing bites they got from their beds and be told leave your valuables in the car as it would be safer.Your and said air conditioning but what we got was 3 open windows.Mattress was disgusting as was bathroom.

Avoid this building even at cost.

This accommodation should not be advertised on booking sites. It reeks of dog urine bottom to top, is in a bad state of repair and dirty throughout. Lost money rather than stay. False description on booking sites. Worrying area and filthy streets.

Hotel unpleasantos.

Do not send any person to this hotel. There are no words to come near the discusting state of this building. The hallway stunk of sweat an inmate secretly told of bed bugs. We tried to book elsewhere but everywhere needed advance booking. When we reluctantly returned in the evening we discovered our back pack was missing. Police were called but before they arrived the landlord took us to a room and said look under the bed… there was the back pack! make of this story as you will. It is all true! The casing of an electrical plug by the bed was hanging off. Sadly I took no pictures

Disgusting. Never stayed in a place like that Payed for two nights. Stayed only three hours. Nothing compared to the advertised pictures

6/10 Good

Based on the property description, I was expecting something different. It is a room in an old house. The proprietor was kind, helpful, and accommodating. It was enough for one night and the price was right, but I likely wouldn't return. We had problems with the WC. The location was good, close to the train station and walkable distance to the seaside and city center. If you have an allergy to dogs, pass on this. Pets aren't allowed in the rooms, but the owners have dogs in the building. Also, luggage storage was a listed amenity, but they do not offer that service.

Comfy room pity about the smell

I have no comment to be honest. The bed was very comfy, did sleep very well, the shower worked ok. The room did have a smell. I had to buy air freshener. Many people who have stayed have complained about the dog smell in the hallway and I agree. Its a shame because it is in such a good location, close to the railway station, near to the town centre where they are fab places to eat.

Absolutely vilest place i have ever seen

We turned up at the hotel expecting onsite parking as it was advertised on the site that there was parking available. When we turned up, there was no onsite parking for cars and the area looked rough, not a nice place to leave a vehicle outside of. The place smelt absolutely vile as soon as the manager opened the door. The room we booked was a family room, but was not a family room and had just had an extra mattress put in the floor. There was dogs in the hallway barking behind a door and tissues and rubbish and dirt, possibly dog poo too as it smelt soo bad. We asked for a refund as we had no where to park our vehicle. The guy who was there pretended he was not the manager and tried to shut us out of the building. He eventually came out to talk to us with closing the door behind him not allowing us into the building and then walked away down the road leaving us locked outside the building and just left. The inside of the building was so disgusting and dirty, the smell made me want to vommit. The guy pretending not to be the manager was scruffy looking, with his zip undone and muck on his shirt. I do not recommend tgus place to anyone, not even a homeless individual. We did not stay there, we lost our money as we already paid for the booking online before we turned up and went to go gind a hotel inn to stay in.
