Avila Retreat
We had a wonderful retreat with friends! We stay at San Luis Bay whenever we come to Avila! It’s our home away from home and it feels like that! Comfortable, hospitality plus, and beautiful views of the ocean!! Love it!!

Beautiful property, terrible beds
I’ve been coming to this hotel for decades. Its location is incredible, the grounds are beautiful and offer a lot of great amenities. It’s a little “stuck in time” but we’ve always found that charming. We also love that the rooms have a little kitchen to prepare food. It has always been a place to rest and restore. But the beds have finally met their expiration date. They are beyond lumpy and completely unusable. The worst I’ve experienced anywhere. We had to leave after one night even though we intended to stay 5. The front desk is very aware that all the beds are bad yet are still renting rooms at full price, offering to put boards under the mattress or add a topper. A usable bed is the bare minimum for comfort at any hotel. Hilton needs to close this location entirely until the new beds are in and room remodels are complete. I will be back in a year to see if Hilton has improved things.

Thanksgiving Get Away
Our stay was great. The room was very spacious and clean but we had a view of a wall. We used to be owners at the San Luis Bay Inn and have stayed in several rooms and I had no idea this room existed. I thought all rooms had a view. I like the fact that they didn’t try to get us to join or sit in a 90 minute time share meeting. They were all very pleasant.

Not worth it.
I have been staying at this hotel for 27 years. Every time I use a 3rd party site they treat us terribly. I booked in advance and they gave us a mediocre room with no view and we asked to be close to the pool since we have certain needs. They wouldn’t accommodate. Concierge wouldn’t even greet us. The place is just going down hill. After 27 years I think it’s time to move on and get an airbnb or something different. So sad. The rooms never change but our bathroom was full of black mold which is hazardous. Bye Bye San Luis bay inn
