Hidden gem, Affordable and safe

Hotel Canton is a hidden gem (literally!). Barcelona has been the most expensive city to stay in on our trip so far, but this location was absolutely perfect. If you are looking for an affordable hotel that is right where the action is, this is the place.

Hotel Canton

Property is in a really great location, at the doorstep of rambla and not far at all from the Port. A little disappointed with the rooms, noticed ants crawling around quite a few places and there didn't seem to be much air ventilation. Aside from that, hotel was fairly okay for the location it was in.

Very good location, walkable to all popular attractions. Lots of good restaurant around. Thev room was small but typical for the area. There was a kettle to make tea and a mini fridge for our use. The area was quiet staff was good. I would recommend this hotel

Would Stay Again. Great Location, Breakfast, Value

My small Single Room had One comfortable Twin Bed. The Room was Clean & Comfortable. The bathroom was spacious - and had a nice shower with a window. I stayed 3 nights before going on a Cruise. Location was perfect- VERY close to Drasannes Metro Station, the Ramblas, and Placa Reale. 6 Euro Breakfast was excellent - and a great Convenience. In-Room Safe was Great. 24-Hour Front Desk allowed for Late Check-in, and Security. The Area is fine - perfectly safe. The Gothic Quarter is old, and has well-lit narrow streets with lots of Graffiti. The Hotel is half a block off the Ramblas, and just 2 blocks down one street off a corner of Placa Reale. The Elevator is small and modern - typical of the many older buildings in Barcelona. It works just fine. I would definitely stay at Hotel El Canton again.

Good location

Good location and fairly good size room for Europe. The stay was nice however anyone that is sensitive to the smell of cleaners should not stay here as there was always a very strong scent of cleaning products. Breakfast was six euros a person which seemed fair for what we got.

Entrance is down a side street that looks a bit sketchy at first glance, but is really not. Taxi wouldn't even go down the street to pick us up. Selected hotel because it has elevator and requested handicap accessible bathroom. Hotel did respond that accessible bathroom was not available but then put us in THE ONLY ROOM on the entire floor that has a step to get into the room, at the end of a very twisted hallway, despite knowing that a wheelchair was involved. The clearance between the wall in front of the elevator and elevator door made maneuvering a wheelchair very difficult. There is a ramp from front door, but they have furniture positioned at the bottom of the ramp, making it near impossible to get around. And the door itself does not open completely nor by itself, so a second person is required to even get in/out the door. For non-handicapped people, it is a good option, but a wheelchair bound person should be very wary.
