Great hotel in an authentic Amsterdam historic building. Stairs are steep but that’s part of the experience and culture. Breakfast was excellent.

No lift and narrow, steep stairs. Continental breakfast with ham and cheeses, etc. no waffle machine Which would have been a very nice bonus if they had one. Staff very helpful and friendly.

This small, class, historical inn was excellent. Service was great, rooms were wonderful, location was perfect. I can't recommend it enough. I will definitely be back. Note there are steep steps to the upper floors so if you have large or heavy luggage or are not OK with stairs it may not be the optimal choice But if yiu are looking for a classic Old World Amsterdam feel, this is THE place..

No elevator is annoying when carrying large luggages. I understand that elevator aren't in those older buildings. Bed was comfortable. the room was small but okay. Also there was construction during our stay which was quite bizarre since construction folks could literally climb up to my window and the window did not lock. w and look in if the blinds were open. overall good hotel.

Room was clean and just made for two night stay. Basic breakfast which was good. If you are having issues with stairs then do not book this hotel. Good location near city centre on a quiet area.

No A/C but a tower-style fan. Only shampoo in the shower (no conditioner) and bar soap at the sink. No hand towel nor wash cloth, only bath towels and floor towel. Safe in room and no fridge. Chilled water near lobby for a charge. Bed was comfortable. Good location. Breakfast ok.

The facility and staff were very warm and inviting and it felt like being in someone’s home rather than merely being in hotel. The breakfast was fantastic and provided an excellent selection to choose from. The facility was within easy walking distance of many attractions that my wife and I were wanting to visit: Anne Frank’s House and Museum, The Rijksmuseum, Rembrandt’ s House and Museum, the Coster Diamond facility, and the GASSAN Diamond facility. The major negative to the Wiechmann Hotel is the stairs. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the stairs were very narrow, steep and in places similar to a spiral staircase. I am 81 and had an extremely difficult time dragging our suitcases up these narrow, steep and winding stairs. It is obvious the facility was built before there were Building Codes.

This place is a great value for being strategically located in one of the best parts of Amsterdam. Feels like a family run B&B almost. Rooms are small and bare bones. Don’t expect too much. Breakfasts are typical European, nothing fancy but good! The only gripe I have is the room smelled like cleaner. In this day and age you don’t need to use abrasively smelling cleaners anymore.

The location of the property and breakfast is the key seller. Getting to the rooms with big luggage is not possible and likely injure yourself. The stairs are like a challenge course, so if you are not comfortable with narrow steep stairs then think twice. The he staff was very reserved and could not help with information on getting around. He hey helped book a cab with one price but the can driver charged double at the drop off point at airport. Double check with can driver on the price before getting on .

This is a charming old hotel in a beautiful, peaceful, neighborhood. Included breakfast was decent, albeit always the same. Common area decorations made it like staying in a cute museum. I would stay here again. However...amenities are limited (hair drier, bar soap, shampoo, tower fan (no washcloths or things like mini-fridges and in-room coffee/tea understandably due to building age and fire regulations). Room service is only provided on THIRD MORNING -- so once during our 5-day stay. (Clean towels are avayalbe on request.) They warn that there is no elevator and stairs are steep. NOTE that STAIRS are VERY STEEP! Carrying suitcases to 3rd floor was a challenge for us older adults. (The young woman staffing the desk did offer to help but not sure how much help she could have provided due to her diminutive size.) We were not IN the hotel very much other than to sleep, so not a lot of interaction with staff. But in those times we requested help it felt like staff members were miffed at being interrupted. So not the most welcoming attitude. We paid extra for a canal view which would have been worth it EXCEPT for fact that, on day 2, scaffolding was erected in front of hotel in preparation for painting the exterior, obstructing our extra-cost view. We understand the need for renovation -- that need certainly exists at Weichmann -- but it would have been proper to inform us ahead of time so we could have made a decision on our stay. Another example of limited hospitality?

Liked everything..lovely large room overlooking canal..very helpful and friendly staff...lovely old decor...excellent breakfast..... except for the many steps to climb to room on 2nd floor ..40...steps up..as no elevators

Great location in canal district. In an old ( but renovated ) canal row house. Very steep stairs so not good for people with mobility issues. Also, no A/C and we were there in really hot weather and there were no room fans available. Otherwise a great place. Also very generous breakfasts

Our room was on the first floor- this required packing our bags up a short flight of steps from lobby to lounge, then up a full narrow, Dutch flight of stairs, through a door, down a hall, and then down some more steps. The room was very old, smelled stale, and looked out onto the inside wall of the building, which was covered in scaffolding. The bathroom had a very stale smell, and the water faucet was actually 2- one hot, and one cold. No way to temperate your water. Unfortunately we had a non-refundable stay, but even with that we just couldn’t see spending 3 nights there so checked out the same day and chose another hotel. We Thought it would be a charming quaint place to stay, based on the description and photos, but it just wasn’t for us.

I had a reservation for four nights at this hotel, but was not able to stay because of the heatwave. I was given a room on the 4th floor of the hotel (in the back of the building), which is basically an attic

We were not told ahead of time that there was construction going on and scaffolding that obstructed our view. The staff were mediocre at best. We arrived at 9am after flying all night and asked about early check in. The answer was "no". Not maybe, check back, just NO. We were able to store our luggage on the day we arrived but that is the best thing I can say. The breakfast was mediocre. We were there for a week and were told that we would get the room refreshed after 4 days. They came on day 6 and left clean towels. We had to ask for more toilet paper. They left an empty kleenex box and didn't bother replacing it. Will not stay there again.

It is very close to Amsterdam Centraal, so you are close to where all the action is. This was actually a lovely Dutch experience. It can be quite intimidating to go up the steep stairs, but it wasn't so bad. The continental breakfast provided a light start to your day. All of the reception staff were very nice. The majority of personal shops close around 6, but the location is very close to a lot of restaurants and stores that open later. I would definitely recommend it if you are a solo traveller or if it is your first time in the Netherlands.
