Loved our stay there. Very friendly staff and enjoyed the breakfast. Rooms are good with a great view over the harbour.

Quirky and comfortable. Room was not level but expected in a pub this old Radiator was very noisy so I turned it off which sorted it nicely Green emergency lighting in room tended to light up the room too much Lovely view from the room overlooking the quay which you can’t better If you are driving, parking is very limited outside with just an hour between 9 and 7 pm. I got around this by parking from 6 pm to 10 am but it can fill quick Plenty of car parks are available at cost nearby 10 min walk which have free motorcycle parking Breakfast was good

Good spot by the estuary, bar OK, Staff very friendly, food good, massive breakfast. But the room was poor, small, smelly, with a noisy saniflo toilet, a weak and rubbish shower, uneven floor, which didn't bother us too much but some people may struggle. Bedding and towels were clean although very old. Access is through the pub kitchen! And up some step back stairs. We had only booked on night, which was fine, the accommodation was very cheap, the premises need an update.

Firstly, when it says they have parking, they don’t. Secondly, the room was unclean and beyond shabby. Photos will say it all. Thought about walking out and would have had we had anywhere else to stay. Would have complained but the only people around at breakfast were the cleaners. The toilet was a very loud macerator toilet which was chucking out a sewage stench and the side panel of the shower ( which trickled out lukewarm water) was smashed. The Lino had obviously had previous leakage because it was all lumpy and smelt damp. I cannot stress how poor it was. I have stayed in hostels which were better. By far, the worst accommodation we have ever suffered. The food was nothing to write home about. Overall, steer well clear. If any management read this review, we would appreciate some contact because we would like our money back!

A really good stay at fish on the quay. Staff were lovely, would like to mention especially jack (barman) and Kieran (assistant manager as they were happy, and always spoke to us, to be honest all staff were friendly. The room was very nice, we were lucky as we had the bathroom in our room, but other rooms don’t. It’s a nice little B&B. Breakfast was really good and a good size, chef did a brilliant job. One thing I would say is that it look late like u don’t get housekeeping for the stay while u are there, the bin did get full and tea and coffee did not get filled up, BUT all you have to do is ask if you need anything and they are happy to supply it. Would recommend it and definitely would stay there again if in the area, would love to see the area in the summer.

The room was tiny. It was cold. The shower did not heat up and dribbled out.

When i book somewhere, like everybody else i read the comments and probably like everyone you look at the negatives first. The more i read them the more i wanted to stay here. So if you are looking for a 5 star hotel with all ammenties under 3 years old please dont come here. This wonderful 400 year old pub is full of quirky, the floors creek and are not all spirt level flat, the plumbing babbles along at its own pace but hot water comes and the shower got me clean. No bath in our room (we did have access to one) so we bathed our baby in the longest sink you will find. I bumped my head on a few low ceiling, well I'm 6 foot and the biulders were not. The bed was comfortable and clean the veiw was so peaceful and the food was fab. The breakfast kept me full till evening. Most importantly the staff went way beyond your posh hotels they were friendly and couldn't have made our stay more.of a delight. So come here if you love the rich history of England but avoid it if you want coperate blandness. Thank you Babs and your team

Nice old pub with lots of character. It’s a very old building that is also very noisy as it’s old. Kept awake at night by washing machine on floor below. Beds were not very comfy and bathrooms are clean but not well maintained and could do with replacing. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was fabulous.

A good stopover in a quaint english pub. Nice lady to show me round. Disappointing that I couldnt get a pint after work ie 10pm, tho that seems the norm around Maldon at this time of year.

Lovely, affordable and quirky, very old wonky rooms above a classic pub right on the quayside by the historic Thames barges. Friendly, helpful staff.

Location excellent however accommodation needs total refurbishment. Cleanliness an issue and although old property we felt a good deep clean was needed. We could also hear mice or something scuttling within walls which was very unsettling.
