Unimpressive
Morning attendant was kind and helpful. Kitchen/breakfast staff was friendly and helpful. Room hadn’t been vacuumed. Evening staff shamed us for using a third party to book the room. And gave us no assurance that the full room charge that had been charged to my card would be reversed when they received payment from hotels.com. Just said we had to work it out with the third party. Glad I’m not a worrier. Just went to sleep the best we could — mattresses were terrible, and addressed it in the morning.

The shower never maintained water pressure or temperature. The tv/cable was constantly in and out with picture and sound. I unplugged and reset the cable/tv many times and it never corrected.

No Bueno!
I'm not one to leave reviews, but I have to warn others. Our "highlights" in order of experience: 1. The entrance is easily missed. Though conveniently right on the highway, there is only one way in and out... we missed it and had to drive around multiple blocks to try again. 2. The building and room layout were awkward, with the bathroom door opening right in the middle of the room. 3. The TV wouldn't connect to channels, and its cords were literally hanging (see image). I didn't bother to ask about this as it was minor for us. 4. There was some strange substance on one of the bedside tables (see image). 5. There was a plastic bag over the carbon monoxide detector... felt super safe about that.... 6. The shower head was extremely low (perfect if you're shorter than about 5'7"), and the water drained extremely slow. 7. The water temp was crazy unpredictable; went from super hot to ice cold randomly, both in the sink and in the shower. 8. The room had only 3 pillows; when I asked for another, they said they did not have extras, had to settle for another blanket. 9. And to top it off, someone started laundry at 10pm which shook our bed and walls on the third floor. Aside from the price and friendly staff, there were not many redeeming qualities about this place. I would NOT stay here again.

Took awhile for hot water to take shower. Tried calling front desk for washcloths. There was only 1 was in room with 3 towels. Front desk didnt answer. Fitted sheet on 1 bed had stains. The room smelled of cigarettes. Check in was easy and free parking. Location was easy to get to, right off of interest.

Once was enough.
This hotel is dated. The breakfast was below what you would expect from a typical hotel breakfast. In fact, we went to other nearby restaurants for breakfast after the first morning (stayed 3 nights). The shower was interesting. The water went from a comfortable temperature to ice cold, to burning hot within seconds, and then back to normal again. It really keeps you on your toes. Fenton has some really good restaurants.

Business trip
All of the staff except for the overnight manager was very kind and helpful. When we checked is we discovered the tv didn’t work, we asked about it the next morning and the were unable to fix it until the next day and offered to let us switch rooms. The only issue we had was that the toilet was very low to the ground and difficult to get up and down if you have mobility issues which we do. We were told they were the same height in the handicap rooms as well.

Fine for an overnight.
Other than the damage done to the bathroom door (looked like someone got locked in once, and had to be chiseled out), it was fine for the price. Loved free breakfast. Could have done without guests standing around my car and smoking in the parking lot.

2/10 Poor

Worst hotel experience ever
It was very dirty, smelt like cigarettes, the carpet was sticky and the bathroom was not clean. After 11:00 pm someone kept knocking on our door, it was a woman with small children. The staff member came about 30 min after the knocking and was screaming at the woman that they only paid for one night and they took all of their stuff out of the room and gave the room to us. I was so embarrassed and upset for that family. When we went to breakfast the next day the eatery was very dirty. Honestly it was the worst stay I’ve ever had. Hotels.com charged us $149 and the actual hotel was only charging $79 for a night so we were scammed into paying almost double for this horrible experience.

Just okay
It was okay. The elevator floor was gross. There was also questionable stuff between the mattress and box spring. (I always check for bed bugs.) The breakfast was gross as well. It was quiet and comfortable though.

Functional
Functional hotel. Overall fairly clean but small and dated bathroom. Hair dryer didn’t work. Hallways smelled like smoke even though it’s a smoke-free hotel. Breakfast was disappointing. No hot water for drinks, dry biscuits, rock hard bagels, pancake maker ran out of batter. Fox Propaganda on tv in breakfast room. Fairly quiet and friendly staff. Good if you need a reasonable place to sleep. Nothing fancy.

Importantly clean: sheets, bathroom, carpet. Comfortable bed. The bathtub faucet did constantly leak water but I could live with that ok as there was still nice hot showers. Plenty of close parking but when the temps froze there were lots of ice including on sidewalks right at the doors that weren't taken care of making it difficult getting in/out to the car. Overall great value for price, would stay again.

STAY Away
The place is disgusting. Got the key to the room, and the smell of smoke hit us immediately. Went right back to the counter for a new room. We were told they didn’t have another room with a king bed. She also said she could not refund me, because I booked online. I asked to be upgraded and she said no. She magically found another room with a king bed. This one still stunk, but not as bad. The place is dingy and dirty. Bathrooms have no fans, marks all over the walls, pillows dirty, etc. as we woke up in the morning, we were greeted with the nice smell of a cigarette burning somewhere near our room.. room was set at 74 when we walked in, and we turned it down to 68. After 15 hours the room was down to 73. Place needs to be condemned. There are 4 more hotels in the area, choose one of those.
