*DON'T* go for the upgrade
The "upgraded" room with a view of the wharf also has a view of an 8 lane highway and side road. Couples with the constant road noise, and a dilapidating room, I wouldn't recommend to anyone the rooms on this side of the building. We kept our curtains drawn on our "view" and had the fan on the whole time just to sleep. Save your money, get the regular room.

The hotel is dirty, the room smelled, the couch was full of dirt stains that it had to be covered with a blanket to be able to sit on it. There were no mirrors in the room, the bathroom was nasty, I’ll never stay there again or any other La Quinta!

Level of care matters
Very clean but the walls are thin, so you can hear your neighbors. Breakfast is not complimentary. I wouldn't trust the breakfast simply by the walls being thin because how you do anything is how you do everything and thin walls give way to the level of care. None. The walls are much more private at other hotels for the same price

This Hotel happens to be pet friendly which is a plus for my family needs. the staff here was very pleasant and accommodating to our requests. The continental breakfast is available for a reasonable amount of time. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone in this area in need of a place to stay.
