Hot Hot Hot woke up sweating

It was in July when we came it was tremendously hot they advertised air conditioner, it was a more like a fan conditioner it didn’t get cool at all in our room. We came outside from the heat to a hot room the 3 days we stayed. They wouldn’t give us a refund so we suffered day & night, woke up sweating couldn’t sleep because it was so stuffy. I opened the doors no relief. They said they would check the air no better results,Stay at your own risk. They only good thing was the location and view.

At the time of booking we didn't think that the lack of an elevator would be an issue, but those are more than 150 steps and it does affect when you only go down to the supermarket or to breakfast, or when you come back from buying with packages. Even though they claim to be suites and not apartments, there were times when there were no staff in the counter (especially at night). The wifi in our room simply DID NOT WORK and we had to go down to the counter to use the Internet/wifi. Annoying issue.

There were no elevators and we had to bring our heavy luggage up 4 flights of stairs. Our hotel room was constantly entered into without just having it be cleaned. There was once when we left for an hour for dinner and the air con was turned off when we had gotten back. The check in process is ridiculous, we had to pay extra to check in late because there isn't 24/7 concierge services.

Great location, but as with all accommodation I've stayed in in the centre of Rome, the rooms are compact... And similarly, stairs to the accommodation, which start on the 4th floor, after a full day pounding the streets, can be tiring. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the accommodation was clean and tidy, and the bed very comfortable. Wifi signal was strong and stable.

The old charm of the 15th century building plus the location is the best asset of this place. We had a veranda window over looking the Piazza Barberini. Which is very nice view at night & early morning. Surprisingly, even with busy location. We did not experience any noise disturbance. The building is secure & quiet, but well lid when you come “home” late from sight seeing. Your magnetic room key also opens the door from outside. It does not have a lobby. It does not the have “bells & whistles” like the newer hotel. But the room is clean, the bedding is comfortable, air condition is on auto settings which is convinient for us that likes our room cool after a day of walking under the heat of the sun- you comes in the room with same settings we had left. The staff are very helpful & accommodating kudos to Christina & Carol. Carol helped us with carrying our luggage upstairs. Yes there are 90 steps stairs to navigate. There are several landings like 6, that you can rest/sit on a bench. I would also suggest to the management since this building has “historic character” to put some wall pictures or conversational poster along the stair case to keep the people occupied instead of thinking how far long the stairs. I was a bit worried about the stairs due to some reviews. For a couple like me & hubby who are not very active- we were able to navigate it in our 5 days of stay. We planned our day in a way, that we did not have to go back & forth to our room.

6/10 Good

I will start with the pros, the staff is extremely nice, there were lots of clean towels and the room was clean. The negatives, if we didn't have the hotel book a driver to pick us up from the airport we would never have found the place. It is a residential door and has an itty bitty sign about 7 feet up and 8" x 8" with small writing that is on the block of the door jam. Once getting there, you have to walk up 5 flights of stairs to get to the lobby desk. Unless you pack really really light, this is nearly impossible. There are benches at 2 stops that you can sit and rest though. Then after checking in it was up another narrow hall of stairs and into our 2 story room. I know what your thinking, a 2 story room, that must've been nice but nope, the bathroom is on the 2nd floor, so more stairs. My poor kids had to sleep downstairs and every time they had to use the bathroom, walk upstairs. During the night this is challenging, my daughter almost missed a step in the dark and it would've been a long way down. Also make sure if there are a few of you that you turn off the water in the shower between soaping up and rinsing off or you will use all the hot water and end up with ice water to shower with like my husband did. Also make sure that when you turn on the shower head to hold it or you will flood that bathroom like again my husband did and my daughter did. Overall, it was a great location but not worth all those steps without an elevator.

Amazing location @ Piazza Barberini

My fiancé and I highly recommend travelers to stay at Suite Artis Barberini for the wonderful staff and amazing location. The hotel is on the third floor of a historical building. So if you have small child or a lot of bags, walking up the steps might not be for you. We didn't mind it cause that allowed for the culture of the European hotel to flourish. When we arrived Carol was there with a smile on her face to check us in and walk us to our room. She upgraded us to the room with the view of the piazza and the waterfall. It was breathtaking and being about to open our window every night was great. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to immerse themselves into the Italian/European way of living. Our room was freshly cleaned everyday and new toiletries were added. Carol also gave his expresso shots each morning before we went out for the day. The hotel was very safe and our room key got us in and out of the front doors down stairs as well as into our room. Also we can't forget that this hotel has several cafes within a 2-3 minute walking distance and the most high-end shops for all shoppers. It's only about 10 minute walk from the Spanish Steps, 5 minute walk to The Trevi Foundation, and about 30 minute walk to all the sites of Rome, including the Colosseum and The Vatican. I want to send a special thank you to Carol for making our first European trip one to remember for a lifetime!

Amazing experience in a fine world city

This hotel is more of a bed and breakfast and it is ideal for an experienced traveler who doesn’t need the interference of over priced services. This room was perfect and the location of Barberini 2 could not be better. I read earlier reviews of the hotel and the writers often missed the mark. This is Roma and not the Hamptons and a 150 square foot room is all you need if you plan on hitting the loca area for sightseeing, shopping, dinner out and similar fun. The suites are rooms in an apartment building and although there is no elevator or similar franchise hotel accompaniments, the service level of the staff, their friendliness and authenticness outweighs the excess you don’t really need if you know what you are doing. The building has an electronic front door lock and with card access you’re in and out of the place with ease. The building is accross the plaza from one of the stops of all off the sightseeing buses. This feature is priceless when added to the amazingly nearby metro. You can walk to everything from this location. The area is robus, dinning and shopping everywhere. All of the major attractions are near and for experienced travelers this is the kind of accommodation that allows you to have the trip of your dreams. I met either walkingmon the streets or across from me at a restaurant and spent time with people from California, Brazila and Switzerland while on my visit. This is a very suitable place to stay if you know how to get around are adventurous.

Great location

Location was great - only a few minutes to the Trevi. The hotel receptionist was lovely and very helpful. The only thing was the room was quite noisy at night due to being right on a main road so we were woken up a few times through the night. Overall a good stay!

Love the place

Love the place, the location is pretty good 'cause it's next to the metro station and on the barberini square, pretty near to pantheon and the fontana di trevi. The room was really clean, love my view, the bathroom was really clean and spacious, It doesn't have elevator, but it only can bother you in the first day that you have to carry your luggages, but the others days you will not noticed. The staff was super nice, very helpful, I will definitely stay there again.

nice hotel, good staff

pros- this hotel is literally walking distance to most tourist location, fountain of trevi, Spanish steps, even the coliseum. it is very clean and you feel comfortable in the room, shower were also very clean. Christina the lady in the reception is a sweet heart, she was nice and kind from the moment I arrive into the hotel, she even helped me with my luggage when I got there. I had any question she answered them and even pointed around which were the best area to eat and shop. overall it was pleasant stay. I would recommend this hotel cons- the stairs, if you have heavy luggage like I did those stairs are going to kill you but if you don't mind a good work out then this wont bother you.
