2/10 Poor

Worst nights sleep in well over 10 years
Room 10. Early check-in good. Nice big room comfortable bed. That’s end of positives. Room faces busy main road with relentless traffic noise. Trying to get to sleep after midnight was impossible. Open window was at 7-8 ft high and impossible to reach to close. After 1am group of people sat down at the tables directly below my room outside and proceeded to speak, shout and laugh loudly until well after 2am. However traffic noise continued making sleep impossible. At 3.30am have not had a single minute of sleep had had enough. Looked for a way of closing window. Chair didn’t look strong enough to stand on so resulting in swinging cushion multiple times until knocked the arm of the catch up which particles the window but still pretty noisy. At some point after managed to get a bit of sleep only to be re-woken at 5.30 and that was it. The worst nights sleep I have had in well over 10 years. This at a time I was already tired after a busy day including 3 hours driving. Arranged to have the included breakfast at 9am. Went down to find no one serving or taking orders, all help yourself. Only coffee option was a glass container containing mixture of granules see photo, no thanks. Not enough milk to have any cereal. At 9.40, only 20 minutes before check-out time someone came to take my order. 3 times I told her what to remove from full English, including it being written down still got it wrong getting no mushrooms. Sausage herby and awful, bacon very fatty. So just beans waffle
Pot of instant coffee comprised of mixture of dregs from jars
Breakfast comprised of inedible herby sausages, fatty bacon
Tables directly below window where people sat drinking lousy until well after 2am
Window 7-8 ft high impossible to reach, after managing to knocked partially closed

6/10 Good

Weekend away
We arrived at the hotel and reported to reception a nice chap showed us our room and gave us one key, we went out for a meal and arrived back to be locked out front door wouldn’t open with our one room key and the back door was locked so after a while we managed to get in through the kitchen no mention of breakfast or time so we went down at 8-30am nobody about so made a coffee and a lady turned up and said would we like breakfast which we had and it was first class . This is not a complaint but hope it helps

10/10 Exceptional

Room was clean and perfect for what I needed, comfy bed, decent size en-suite bathroom and great shower. Good breakfast as well, with both continental and cooked options. Cooked breakfast was delicious with the only quarm being thicker sausages preferred. 9.8 out of 10, recommend to anyone and would love to stay again when the opportunity rises.

Strong recommend
1) Traditional pub room for 2 night stay 2) Friendly & helpful staff esp “Liz” 3) Food very good (excellent English bedroom) 4) After midnight you need to ring a mobile for staff to let you in 5) Freeview reception in room #3 was patchy 6) Approx 6 parking spaces from & rear (some street parking also) 7) Free Wifi is one of those “sign-up” marketing ones which I declined good 4G receptions

2/10 Poor

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid
Had to wipe my feet on the way out. Went and bought my own towel as the one provided smelt. Bathroom was a disgrace, definitely wasn’t cleaned for quite some time, the windows were dirty, the TV didn’t work and the food in the restaurant was disgusting. Only ate in there the first night of my 4 night stay. Ended up checking out early as couldn’t stick it any longer.
