Loved our stay, very charming and unique.
Only thing that could have been better is a/c in the room at night, an iron in the room. Also a bit of misconception about the room having a balcony, apparently only 4 have them and it’s first come first serve

Best hotel I have stayed in in Spain.
This hotel was one of the highlights of my road trip. The city of Ciudad Rodrigo is stunning and so historic and this is one of the most impressive buildings in it. To stay in the palace was a priviledge and the place really is top class.
The rooms are lovely, but clearly cant be modern - but they have a charm and elegance that you wont get in a modern hotel.
The views from the restaurant alone are worth a stay and the food was perfect. I have stayed in a number of Paradores and this one is my favourite so far.

Absolutely amazing! Every parador we've stayed in has been fantastic - always first class accommodations. This one was awe-inspiring! The medieval town and the parador itself is just the reason we love Spain so much!

Amazing Paradores. Staff more than helpful and friendly. Dining was very nice and sitting in the bar and drinking cappuccino was a treat. We decided to take a stroll and ended up walking the complete old walled city with amazing views. We would definitely recommend this place for a get away in Spain with a lot of history.

It was exciting fir us to stay in a castle. The town is quiet and quaint and we had a great time. The rooms are basic but any minor negatives are far outweighed by the history.

We won’t stay here again
This was the 6th time we stayed at the Parador de Ciudad Rodrigo and we’ve had no problems previously. However this time our visit was fraught with problems - no air conditioning in room (only warm air), no Internet in room (only available in reception), no hot water in morning, no vegan option on in-room menu. In fact the in room menu was not available, neither was the menu given to us by reception, a third in room menu was produced in the dining room!! When identifying these problems to the receptionist we simply got a shrug of the shoulders!!!

Stay somewhere else,
Stay somewhere else. Indifferent staff, miserable public areas, tiny cramped rooms(no balcony or view despite having booked). Nice old castle tower ruined by unsypathetic new white plastic and glass consevatory ceiling arond reception. Overun at lunchtime and afternoon by group tours passing through for group lunch. Worst Parador Have seen and very not 4* and vastly overpriced. Wish could say something positive, but can’t

Save your money and have a look but stay elsewhere
The Parador, once you have found it by car, is in an amazing setting in an imposing building but the rooms are dark and without a much of a view.(unless you count looking at a cobbled driveway and wall a view)Bathroom dated and not 4 star standard with a poor shower and some mould. Hotel very expensive without any frills or perks. Seen much better paradors, this one seemed stark and at places neglected. Even their garden had only metal chairs and the stairs leading to the walkway around the walls bent underfoot...

Fairytale Castle Oasis
Amazing to stay in a beautiful historic castle. We did have some difficulty finding the Parador as the satnav wasn't at all helpful and the walled town entrance and narrow, winding streets didn't seem large enough for cars! But it was worth it once we found it and the Receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean, comfortable and quiet. However we did think that the decor was looking a little tired and would benefit from some updating. An added bonus was parking on site. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but enjoyed a very substantial breakfast. We had visited Ciudad Rodrigo a few years ago and were disappointed that the town was not as "buzzy" as previously with many restaurants, shops and bars now closed. However,we still enjoyed drinks in the main square and found a selection of restaurants to eat. We climbed the steps up the Tower at the Parador for wonderful panoramic views over the plains - and could well see why the Castle would have been such a strategic place to defend. There is also a lovely walk around the town walls. We highly recommend this Parador and look forward to returning one day.
