Location was great. The hotel layout has an apartment building feel which I liked. It's a bit dated, but nothing falling apart. Great for the price. I would stay here again

It was what we needed. Accommodate our girls trip with 3 beds. Close proximity to the Zocalo, Mercado 20 de Noviembre and Mercado Benito Juarez. I would stay again

While this is a simple hotel, it is clean and has character. What more could you want when staying in Oaxaca? We are a family of 5 and the thing we liked best about this hotel is that they had rooms that had beds for everyone and we did not have to split up into 2 rooms. We definitely would stay here again.

Best part is the location. Really close to main attractions, restaurants and shopping. Rooms are very small and basic. Staff is good.
No air conditioning.
The rooms are clean. This a good hotel if you just need a place to sleep. I felt safe walking to hotel at night.

Traveling as a family of
5 with 2 kids under 10 and 2 elderly parents can be though. We stayed here one night in between flights and for the room last minute. The front desk answered all my parents questions with ease and we got oh room without any issues. Our room was on the second floor, be aware there are no elevators! The room was super spacious and had a working ac system. The location is ideal for walking around. Will definitely be booking with the hotel again in the future

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Posada Don Matías in Oaxaca. The hotel is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from the Zócalo and many of the city’s main attractions. It was the perfect base for exploring Oaxaca’s vibrant markets, historic sites, and amazing food scene.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, offering a cozy retreat after a day of sightseeing. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to help with recommendations or any requests. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home.
Overall, Hotel Posada Don Matías is a great choice for travelers looking for a well-located, affordable, and charming place to stay in Oaxaca. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

great location and clean but….
The location of the accommodation was excellent. The staff were also very friendly, and the service was great. The facilities themselves were clean and well-maintained.
However, the major issue was that my room was unbearably hot and humid. I’m usually not someone who complains about accommodations, but honestly, the heat and humidity in this room were just too much. Also, there was no proper hot water (though to be fair, it was so hot that I didn’t really need it). Other than that, the place was clean.

The room was clean and the staff helpful. AC wasn’t too powerful but it wasn’t that warm when we visited. On Saturday night there was very loud disco music playing until 3am from one of the bars beside the hotel. Showers were not hot. Location is right beside the street food and markets

Friendly staff, clean and spacious room. Very close to the Mercados and el Zocalo. Would stay here again. Friendly note, hot water is set on a schedule so make sure you read the sign posted in the room for hot water schedule.

We love to stay there, my family of four we had a wonderful time walking all around anyting All the beautiful food on the street. We also visit el mayordomo restaurant, ate tlayudas and we were able to make wonderful coffee at a room.

Wonderful, spacious, colourful posada with comfortable rooms. Centrally located opposite the market. Very friendly and helpful receptionists. Great value for money. We extended our stay ..twice
