Worst Rental Experience I've Ever Had
A truly awful experience at the most poorly stocked vacation property I have ever rented. The property overlooks a terribly rundown neighborhood. Upon arrival, the front door lock was broken. The woman at the front desk argued with me for 20 minutes before calling a locksmith to do the repair. The fan for the A/C in the bedroom was barely blowing even at the highest setting. On day 2 they claimed to have a repair man at the property but the A/C fan was still very weak. I had to leave the A/C in the living room on to get the bedroom cool which made the living room freezing cold. In the evening on day 2 the owner returned my phone call to discuss the deficiencies but would not have a fair discussion about the issues at the property. After going back and forth about the failed a/c repair he demanded that I pack my things and leave in 30 minutes or he would throw all of my belongings out into the street. Being a 3rd floor apt and not knowing how crazy he is, I decided the best thing to do was pack up and leave.
I tried to convince him that I’m a reasonable person and willing to live with the deficiencies in the apartment for the next 3 nights, but he was rude, arrogant and threatening. He kept saying that he would throw my things out into the street and call the Police to help him. I told him we have a contract and he has no right to cancel the booking if I’m willing to accept the apt in its current condition. He kept threatening me, so I packed up & left to avoid a fight.
