Learn more about Mercer Island

Floating in Lake Washington, this affluent island offers a peaceful escape just minutes from Seattle's urban buzz. Kayak along the shoreline where waterfront mansions peek through towering evergreens. Luther Burbank Park provides sandy beaches and off-leash dog areas where four-legged locals socialize with more enthusiasm than their owners. Summer concerts fill Mercerdale Park with picnicking families sprawled across blankets. The community centre hosts everything from tennis matches to art exhibitions. Bicentennial Park's trails wind through native forests that somehow survived development. While the island itself feels like a retreat, the I-90 bridges make Pike Place Market and the Space Needle quick trips for when island tranquility needs a dash of city energy.

Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center

Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center

8/10 Good
"The Hilton is a luxury hotel. Apparently, this means that there’s no microwave or refrigerator in the room, because wealthy people who go to fancy hotels only eat in the restaurant, I suppose. There are a lot of people around with big smiles on their faces who always ask if you need help. I guess this is called service. They. seemed very tip hungry to me. I was thinking the whole time “if I let one of these young people help me, I’m going to end up having to give them all tips.“ The front desk people were helpful. They switched me to a better room, actually, so that I wouldn’t have to walk from building two to the restaurant in building one. The place had a well lit cheerful, feel. The parking fee at this place is egregious. $36 or something like that. And then I wasn’t able to park in the garage because it was too full."
