We loved this charming hotel in an even more charming town. The breakfast was great. There are lots of shops just outside the front door and the parking garage is literally next door. Don’t miss the chocolatier, Heimdal, just down the street. Highly recommend.

When we questioned this, she gave us a much large

The girl at the desk when we checked in was totally confused about our reservation. She told my husband that she had found it and when I went in to get more information on the room she asked me to pay for it. After 30 minutes she finally figured out the problem and gave us a room key. I had signed up for a superior double room and she originally gave us a room just big enough for the bed. When we questioned this, she gave us a much larger room that was what I thought I had ordered. She apologized profusely but it was not a real pleasant experience.

The Grand Hotel has a super location - 2 minute walk into the center of town. Staff are super friendly and the complimentary soup each evening is a nice touch. We will definitely be back.

3 nights in a broom cupboard

I booked a budget single room so I knew it was going to be small, but how small can a room in a decent looking hotel really be? The answer is ' a lot smaller than you think!'. I've looked again at the photos on the hotel website but they don't convey quite how cramped it actually is. There is no headboard on the bed so I put the chair between the bed and the window to stop the pillows falling off whilst I slept. Your clothes have to go onto 3 hangers which live on 2 wall hooks over the bed The shower room was similar tiny; luckily I'm only 5'7" so I could sit on the toilet without squashing my face against the opposite wall but I pity any six footers who stayed there. There is also a step running across the floor of the shower room, but with the tiles being all the same dark green pattern it could not be seen. Even when I knew it was there I still managed to twist my foot on it or trip over it in a momentary lack of concentration. The rest of the hotel is fine; nicely decorated with a nautical theme, with friendly staff, reasonable breakfast and light evening meal (soup and various salads). I hope the 'normal' rooms are good because these budget rooms let the hotel down very badly.

Quiet, convenient and recommended

We are two adults who went to attend a jubilee a few kms outside the town. The hotel was conveniently located, in a quiet part of the town - even on a saturday night - and close to the railway station as well as the downtown taxi stop. This town is much, very much in fact, busier during the summer season, so please note that this reports pertains to the winter - off-season - season.

Very nice boutique Hotel right in the center

I was on a cruise and since I was in Norway already decided to extend my trip to Arendal my father's home town. Wow this hotel was wonderful from the minute we got there the Front desk and all employees welcomed us it was already in the afternoon and they include a light super this was a full delicious super we couldn't believe it and on the morning a wonderful breakfast with everything you could want . I highly recommend this Hotel to everyone . The staff the Hotel was just up to par in everything . Thank you from the sisters that went to visit there great grandmothers grave and my father's town . Will be back again Rosemarie
