We booked this place last minute after a bad experience at another hotel. This place was clean, a bit dated but overall maintained well. The staff was nice, breakfast was good, the pool looked great. Disabled parking and a ramp to the entrance with automatic doors was very helpful! A great budget friendly hotel close to all the theaters nearby.

This hotel was closed for several years after the rooms had been renovated. It still looks same today. Breakfast was continental , maybe. Out of cereal , only hot choice is waffles. Coffee was great. We enjoyed staying at the University Inn & Suites. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was good to have a good hot shower. The reception at the desk was helpful and breakfast was good to make your own waffles. Liked the inn had complementary coffee and water available near the reception office. The inn also has a swimming pool. There were many excellent restaurants in walking distance. Also the the AC 51B bus stop was two blocks away to go to the university or to the Berkeley BART station.

The rooms were generally fine. All the normal places were decently clean. However, the room was in desperate need for a deep cleaning. There were cobwebs on the inside of the window and I saw 2 bugs crawling around my feet in the bathroom (they looked like tiny cockroaches, but I’m not sure. I tried not to look for more). Spots along the grout and under the sink were utterly disgusting and where I’d assume the bugs were coming from. The free breakfast was abysmal, the worst I’ve ever seen (but it was free, so whatever), I definitely passed… But, this hotel was a cheaper option than competition and it was still better than some sleazy motel. So you get what you pay for, overall it was fine for what I needed. The only staff member I interacted with was the girl when I checked in, she was great.

Hotel was in a great location for grabbing a bite to eat and getting to and from UC Berkeley. Plenty of parking which was fairly secure (they closed one gate at night). Staff was super friendly at check-in, which was quick and efficient. Rooms were dated but clean and comfortable. Hotel itself could use a 'refresh' but it was still a nice place to stay. Televisions in room had limited channel access. Continental breakfast (6-9am) had plenty to eat, although at 8:15 when we headed to eat, many of the items were low stock (OJ, cereal, waffle mix and syrup). Make sure to bring your own hairdryer, our room was not stocked with one. For the price and location, we would definitely stay here again
