This hotel should be taken off all the websites!!!
A video was taken on how bad the state of the room and toilet and we are demanding for a full refund as 5 employees did check-in, saw the state of the rooms and left the hotel under 5 minutes! Horrible state to be in when you are travelling and to note that it is rated as a 4 star facility!

A terrible hotel, should be removed from Expedia
- after check in they ask you submit your passport 2 days for police registration ( this mean this hotel not a government approved hotel can stay international guest. ) - a king size bed room, only with 2 pillows ( 2" high pillow). -sink broken -all furniture, chairs looks at least 6 months no clean, put cloths in closest, then find all cloths get a lot of white dust. - no local telephone. - matters can feel all springs wire on surface. Most terrible thing is we storage 4 luddages after check out, tell them come back pick up on 12- 1 pm. When we back on 12: 30 pm, the only lady in front besk clocked door and out of hotel, call a posted phone number, no reply. ..... We find a clean lady she contact their manager ( out of town), get find out this front desk lady at out side of hotel . After 30 mins, the lady back but tell us the door access card lost just during out of hotel. So we have to keep waiting until she get door access card from the building management company. This all our experience this time stay in this hotel.

Very convenient place, but with shortcomings.
I've been staying here on and off for the last 2 years. It's a very convenient place, with Cloud 9 shopping mall, the new Raffles City mall and the Zhongshan Park metro station, all across the street pretty much. However, problems always pop up. The internet, which is from 2010 China standard (2 Mbps WITHOUT vpn), sometimes drops drastically during periods of heavy usage, i.e. weekend nights. The central heating sometimes stops, or starts spewing cold air, regardless of the thermostat temperature. The worst part is the internal noise. Many (most) Chinese guests feel they are the only people in the building. I regularly have neighbors who stomp their feet when walking and slamming doors, drawers etc. The lack of any insulation between floors makes matters worse. The cleaning girls can sometimes be just as noisy, as they usually behave as if this is an office workplace instead of a hotel. The pluses though, other than the location, is the excellent hot water pressure in the bathroom and the service attitude of the staff, who respond to issues immediately.

Be aware
It was not a 4-star hotel-Economy stay, not 4-star worth stay. The shower in bathroom needed some works. Staffs were nice and kind however they couldn't speak English at all.

Five stops from the Bund
The room had a refrigerator, kitchen table and a loft area with a desk area and second bed. There was a convenience store across the street. No issues. Nice place.

Hard to locate and a bit far from the CBD.
They have a different name for this hotel on the outside which makes it hard to look for. To enter the hotel, I had to go up the uncovered escalator/stairs outside. Given that it was raining, the escalator was inoperable, so imagine yourself climbing up a flight of stairs with your luggage. At the front desk, they will not know of your accommodation. You will have to go through their security guards up to level 9 (Room 921) to check-in. The room smells of mold.

excellent location.
The location is excellent. There is a big shopping center with lots of eating places within 5 min walk. Subway route 2 is just opposite the road which leads you to most of the landmarks, tourist spots in Shanghai. However the condition of the hotel is not good. Everything is a bit run down.

Nasty low class hotel w/ excellent location
Hotel is located at excellent location, literally just next to line 2,3,4 subway station, take the exit 7, then across the one way street, take the escalator to 2nd floor, get into the building and take the elevator to 9th floor, look for the office room as the reception. The room will meet your basic desire only if your expectations is based on the discounted extremely low price, or else you would be disappointed for sure.

Great location for transportation and shopping.
It is very nice that the hotel provides washer machine. 1st time experience of check-in at RM.921 instead of front desk. Too cheap window drapery wakes you up in early morning. Only one pillow does not provide any comfort. In the bathroom, no lighting over the mirror. The kitchen clearness needs more attention due to a couple of tiny cockroach.

Mediocre place but good location
This hotel is nothing to write home about. It's a high story building that shares the rooms among several hotel companies. It's a 12 year old building, which in today's China means it's getting old and very near the end of its useful life. 95% of the rooms are basically studio units with a tiny kitchenette. The cleaning is quick and superficial (as in all of China), the internet is frustrating (most rooms have a 2-2.5 Mbps connection, WITHOUT a vpn, a vpn will drop the speed by another 50-80%), but they have ok bed mattresses and functional furniture. Don't expect utensils or pots and pans here. On the plus side, the shower water pressure is great and most rooms (not all) have central heating and A/C. What this hotel has going for it is the location. Very near the metro lines 2,3 and 4 and the Long Zhi Meng shopping center across the street. If it wasn't for the location this place would charge 30%-50% less.

Hotel close to subway, but nothing else positive
Room dirty. Needs good spring clean. When we complained, the staff gave it a token clean. difficult to get staff to understand as no one spoke English. Hotel close to subway and a reasonable supermarket. building poorly designed as escalators to ground floor from reception area were outside and flooded when it rained, so they were not working most of the time, so had to carry luggage up / down stairs. Would not recommend especially to Western tourists

Bad start to 2016
I chose the "Deluxe" room to make my New Year's Eve in Shanghai a memorable experience - and it was for all the wrong reasons. First, the level of cleanliness really was substandard. But more importantly, the TV did not initially work and the microwave and refrigerator both needed to be replaced. No real amenities to speak of and very spotty internet. Itchy sheets, a hard bed, and flat pillows just made the whole experience worse. To add insult to injury, I emailed Hotels.com on 12.29 and as of 01.06 (date of this review), I have not received a response.

Below average hotel rooms, great location.
This is a hotel, along with the other 2-3 in the same building, that if it was in a different location, it could not charge over 200 yuan ($30) a night. The extra you are paying is for simply being next to the Zhongshan park metro station, the shopping mall and the surrounding neighborhood. The hotel rooms (I have stayed in 4-5 of them over the last year) are, let's say, less than Greentree Inn in quality. Small, with a nice enough double bed, small table and chairs and a small kitchenette. Internet is a standard China Telecom connection from 3 years ago with a router (measured speeds of 1.5-3 mbps). Aircon works well and there is central heating. Outside noise can be had from all directions and inside noise is a given as the hotel is frequented by Chinese travelers. No gym but there are three(!) across the street. As I said, this is one of the most convenient locations in Shanghai. Convenience stores, restaurants and Carrefour are from 2 to 7 minutes walk.

Mediocre hotel in good location
Besides the location, I can't really say much about the hotel. Check-in is at an adjacent unit not downstairs at the lobby which is odd. Overall not bad for 2 nights stay, but I don't think I can handle another night. At least there is hot water in the shower.

Basic but not Complaining
The hotel is excellent for the price. It is pretty basic. I liked the fact that they had a microwave, small stove and laundry machine. The location is excellent. Several Subway lanes are within 5min walk from the hotel. I wish the receptionist would smile a bit more.

Sleeping in an Office Building
If you have not slept in an office building before, then this is the perfect hotel for you. You arrive at the location, pull your luggage up 20 flights of stairs (don't wait for a porter as they don't exist), you will see a typical hotel reception....whose only job is to tell you that YOUR reception is actually on the 9th floor. You walk into an office building and get up to the 9/F where you will check in inside a room with a signage of the hotel. Then, the receptionist will give you the key to go back down to 7/F. You go down to 7/F to look for your room...along the way, you will find another hotel reception and many rooms with a Company signage which means people are working inside. You enter the room with very basic facilities (which is to be expected). The towels are well used, and the overall conditions are old and taggy! Amazingly, there is no toilet paper...and at that point, I didn't even bother to go back to the 9/F...

Complete Misrepresentation
We didn't stay. It was 1 star not 4. We were very disappointed. We believed we had booked 4 star accomodation. Unfortunately it came up well short of the mark. It was clean but very very scruffy and uncomfortable. We decided to bite the bullet and not stay there rather than being miserable. We relocated to the Sofitel, which definitely was 4 star.
