Massively disappointing - terrible experience
Starting with the positive, this hotel is centrally located which is great. The mattress was very firm (which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but with back issues, was welcomed).
Unfortunately it fell very very short of the experience expected, given the rating and the significant financial cost of a night(!).
For reference, these issues references were reported, in writing, with photos whilst we stayed, management said they ‘tried to speak to us in the room’ (we were out, and as I pointed out, they didn’t try too hard as they didn’t bother to contact either of us - a little strange given they had both our phone numbers.
‘Blackout room’? No. Most definitely not. See photos. The curtain wasn’t even big enough to stretch across the gap.
Cleanliness? - no. Bedside table had grimy marks and there were filthy smear stains of ‘something’ on the wall?!
Privacy? No. Hope if you’re sharing a room with someone you’re very comfortable with one another. Very big gap down the side of the toilet door.
Anecdotal bit of fun - enjoy the view of yourself on the toilet in the reflection of the glass :/
Health and safety? - lacking. Smashed corner on the glass top to the bedside table.
No clearance on the shower door to enable you to place a bathmat to avoid slipping on water on the floor.
Books through hotels.com - explained the situation and provided the evidence. They were ‘unable to refund’ as the hotel did not authorise it. Offer of upgrade & breakfast on future stay was insulting
