Luxury suite?
While the bed was comfortable and the shower really good, we were taken aback at the instructions that upon our departure we were to strip the sheets off the bed and empty the rubbish bin into the big bins at the back of the property!!! There was no tea or coffee provided only what looked like what other guests had left behind (although there was long life milk in the in the fridge) There was also several forms of communication that if the kitchen wasn’t left in a tidy state there would be a $25 cleaning fee and a $75 cleaning fee if there was sand on the floor Absolutely no late check out and the ocean view must have been before the trees and shrubs grew taller!!! No one in reception and when I rang the number as advised to ask re parking I received no response to my voice mail. Another guest advised us of where to park our car 3 external doors to the small suite including one right next to the bed Not sure the title of the booking is earned or warranted other than a reason to put a big price tag on the room per night

4/10 Fair

Although the property itself is very nice with gardens, pool, nice sitting areas and the room was as pictured on Expedia, we were very disappointed….the wifi signal in the room was non existent most of the time and when you finally got a weak signal it would keep cutting out. The satellite TV continually kept losing signal so we could not watch TV. So no internet & no TV! In addition when I tried to use the microwave, it did not work. The timers and settings work but the food remains ice cold. To add to the frustration, guests are expected to strip the bed sheets and place towels together for laundry pick up as well as sweep the floors and clean the kitchen. For the price that this property charges, you would think they could hire a cleaning service for their rooms and not expect guests to do it for them. Even a budget motel offers this service, There is a clear note that if the cleaning is not done to their satisfaction, they will charge guest $75. I doubt that we will get any credit for the issues I listed above. We are very disappointed and do not recommend this accommodation!

Beautiful view! Interesting place, not sure id call it a luxury penthouse unless in Bali! It’s a little over done in styling! Bathroom is very dated. It was freezing cold and no way of heating the main areas and the air con in the bedroom was so noisy I had to turn it off to sleep! Other than that was nice!

No laundry Two bedrooms but only one bathroom indoors so inconvenient if more than a couple is staying Quirky decor, not thrilled with the preserved crocodile or turtle. Extremely clean, comfy bed and great veiws.

Very limited phone communication prior to our visit and inability to reach office or mobile contacts on the day of our visit. No one in the Office on Saturday and no one anywhere in sight, guests or staff, at the Lodge. Expedia in Arizona finally found us alternative accommodation after we spent several hours on a park bench speaking to a robot.

Comfortable and clean stay
Comfortable and clean stay in nice accomodation. If not in the 'penthouse' then I'd consider it overpriced, but 1770 options are limited and several places were booked up already.

For the money spent I don’t think it was worth it. Bathroom was very average with no power point and a small basin and mirror. You could hear the people above and there was a light which stayed on outside the bedroom with no curtain. The only curtains that were in the large glass door were see through so minimal privacy. Ocean views were only just. The Room was ok but just not worth it.

Pleasant stay
The property is in a wonderful position central to the town which consists of a a couple cafe/bars and the pub. The property is comfortable and nicely decorated. The style of property is a self contained apartment that provides no services and is very strict regarding self cleaning of the apartment. However this style suits the environment of 1770.

6/10 Good

The living room/dining area/kitchen and veranda were beautiful, taking in the stunning view. The bedroom was also lovely with a comfortable bed and looking out over the bay. The drawback was that the bathroom is quite dated and small, especially the toilet crammed between the shower and wall. If there are more than 2 people and you use the second 'bedroom', they would have to walk through your bedroom to get to the toilet as there is no second, separate toilet. The second bedroom is an accident waiting to happen as it's only accessible via a very steep ladder with no side bars. Very unsafe and dangerous for either children or adults. It doesn't quite fit the description as a TWO bedroom penthouse, but for a couple's getaway it's beautiful.

A beautiful lodge apartment with excellent facilities. Definitely the choice of places to stay in this gorgeous little town. The host, Lindy, was lovely and we would have been happy to spend many more than the two nights we had in 1770.
